Shoulder pain and restrictions with Hashimotos

Hi , I thought that I had a frozen shoulder, but, have found out that it is a symptom of Hashimotos. I am seeing a physiotherapist and doing exercises, should I be looking at taking more vitamins? Obviously, I am taking b12, D3, K2, feratin , selenium and magnesium etc. Has anyone else had this and any advice as it is excruciatingly painful?

I think  Regenallotment suffered with this and it turned out to be the lactose in the pills being the issue, or it could have been the excipients in Teva? I've tagged her in as my memory is hazy 🤗

Hi Zebah, I also have had this over the past couple of years and noticed there were others on the forum who have experienced it also and I thought it was a symptom of under active thyroid. Like you, it was really painful to begin with and I resorted to some acupuncture which helped greatly and also do exercises but it took quite a while before it got better. I hope Regenallotment replies because I'm very interested in the possible connection to lactose which was mentioned by Eeoyre.

Hi Delgor, Sorry to hear that you were suffering too, as it's so painful. I checked Regenailotment's post's by clicking on her name. I don't know if they had got to the answer. 🙁

Sorry I wasn't alerted to your reply - mine doesn't always seem to work! Interesting replies from Regenallotment and arTistapple . I did go dairy free a couple of years ago and have also been on T4 & T3 for a number of years so not sure that was the cause of mine. However, I did have leaky gut and maybe not getting my nutrients had something to do with it as it's much improved. Regenallotment recommended Super Gut by Dr William Davis which I still haven't read as have had a lot of other things going on but it's amazing how so much disease seems to start off in the gut. Hope you find some improvement soonest!

sorry I didn’t spot I’d been tagged, long day at work today.

I am lactose intolerant and had chronic ankle and shoulder pain before dx, dodgy shoulder too from a very ancient rugby injury. Dodgy ankle from running 8km 3 times a week in cheap trainers then running barefoot on a sloping beach on holiday.

I was told to stop all sport by a podiatrist and have really only cycled a little up to town etc. in the last 4 years. At its worst I couldn’t walk around the supermarket without limping.

Since giving up dairy and having Teva then Aristo T4 upped to 125mcg pains definitely improved. Since starting T3 5mcg and T4 dropped to 100mcg my ankle pain has gone completely and my shoulder pain is much improved. I do an intermediate yoga class for 2 hours on a Monday, headstands etc. we were practicing handstands, I’m not close to getting up there yet but my shoulder was fine, I would say the T3 being more than 30% through range is the biggie, yoga is a massive help, lactose / dairy free definitely less pain generally. Hope that helps 🌱

Hi Regenaillotment,Thank you for your reply, it was helpful, I think that I will do my bloods and reassess my meds , I have started exercises given to me by the physiotherapist ,so hopefully it will get better. 😁

It’s very much a symptom of hypothyroidism/Hashi’s!! Keep moving it. Get massage if you can afford it. Buy a ‘Bang’ massage gun to keep the pain away and also a bit of massage in between any appointments, which lets face it can be expensive. I managed one shoulder which was stopping me sleeping etc with my sports medicine guy. The next one I have not dealt with properly yet. Too much going on in my life and sometimes the ‘exercise’ required by just the deep massage can be painful and needs attention (ice cold packs) and sometimes pain killers and honestly worse fatigue after sessions - I have left them for the moment but will be going back to get it sorted. A brief few days with T3 was fab but had to stop temporarily because of very uncomfortable racing heart. So much for us to attend to. Agree get meds sorted out.

Hi Tistapple,Thank you so much for replying, the responses are reassuring, I have a massager, but was so painful after, I have found that hotwater bottle on it helps as it keeps the blood flowing and I am taking antiinflammatory tablets. ...I think that there is no quick fix apart from checking meds and therapy.

I wish you well with your progress. 👍
