I am taking 25mg of Levothyroxine one day then 50mg on alternate days as 50 everyday didn't suit me, but does anyone else feel like they have been kicked by a horse all over their body and so tired they have to go back to bed until afternoon ?, also is this a symptom of Hashis or medication.

It could be a number of things. This is a very very tiny dose so it may be that it is turning off your body's hormone production and your t3/t4 levels are actually falling instead of rising. It could be the fillers in this brand don't suit you. You could be having a flare-up. May I ask:

What didn't suit about 50mcg (what were your side effects on that dose)?

Are you taking the levo well away from food and non-water drinks?

Do you have your most recent test results? That might shed some light.

Do you know if your b12, d, iron, ferritin and folate levels are good?

Is your next blood test due within 6-8wks of starting your levo?

Thank you for your reply, my symptoms were sweating, palputations muscle & joint pain, my last bloods T4 13.2 TSH 5 My antibody test was 135., i take my Levo at bedtime with water, not sure about other levels but i do take a multivitamin & B complex - not seeing Doc for 3 months

It really is important to know your levels of B12 - VITD - FOLATE - FERRITIN. Levels must be OPTIMAL for the levo to work well in the body and for you to feel good.

A multi -vit will not help as there is rarely enough of anything in them - especially B12. Unfortunately your B12 test result will be skewed so do bear that in mind.

You should be retested six weeks after starting Levo and your dose increased. 3 months is too long.

Low VitD as well as low thyroid could be the cause of your joint pain. Go to the main website of this forum where you can learn everything about the thyroid which will help you when next see your Doc. You will know more than him/her 😊

I feel like that when my tsh is over 2.5, as has been said, you need re testing after 6/8 weeks and a dose adjusting if necessary. has the sweating, palps and pain stopped on the lower dose? Its possible to just increase to 50 on another day over a 7 day period to see how you cope with a slight increase rather than a big one all at once, thats if an increase is needed.

Please do request another blood draw, and ask for all the other tests already mentioned iton, folate, ferratin, b12, vit d.

I've just read a recent posting about brand change to the new TEVA and symptoms such as aches and pains as well as tummy issues.

It interested me because that is what I have just picked up as my first prescription.

Obviously when you have nothing to compare to because it's new to you, it's impossible to know if a symptom is the brand and ingredients or dose or another hypo symptom.

I hope though that you feel better soon.

Hi,

That's quite a low dose, won't really be helping much as a starting dose. if you've been on it for a few weeks it can be raised, palpitations and sweating should settle mine did after several weeks. See how you go.

Are you gluten free? A must with Hashimotos. Nearly 100% of patients with Hashimotos in a trial by Kris Kresser (I think) were found to have leaky gut. Gluten free will help you to feel less tired, achy, bloated...

Get bloods done. They must test Folate, feretin, B12, vitamin D It is very likely that you will be low in some of these vitamins as common with thyroid problems. They will also be making you feel dreadful.

Read everything you can to educate yourself.

Mary Shomon books are good.

She has a website called verywell I think too but I'd recommend books.

Kris Kresser website

Dr Datis Khazzarians books are brilliant highly recommend.

The auto immune recovery plan by Susan Blum good book for diet info and recipes.

Research Natural Dessicated Thyroid (NDT)

Also leaky gut

Get yourself to GP and demand the correct bloods.

Bluehorizonmedicals have private testing. Thyroid plus 11 or thyroid plus 15 will test everything. Not cheap but if you can afford it you then have ammo to take to GP.

Good luck. Post blood results on here. We will help.x
