Neck Pain with Hashimotos

I seem to get a horrible pain in the base of my neck when I've been on my feet all day - eg. Yesterday I was walking round London all day and had really bad pain after a bit...it is relieved by sitting down.

I sometimes have pain in my lower back too when I've been on my feet all day...

Is this likely to be linked to hashis? Has anyone else had this kind of experience? Or perhaps it's totally unrelated...

My thyroid hormone levels are good ATM...but my last blood test flagged up low folate, which I'm waiting to hear back from my GP on.

Any advice out there please...?

Hi, I definitely had this when I was under medicated & vitamins not optimal and I regularly saw both physio & chiropractor. Since my thyroid levels and vitamins have improved, I’ve not had any further issues. I take Thorne Basic B to help with folate. I’ve also been going to Pilates classes and that’s really helped.

Hi

I suffered terrible neck pain until I finally sorted out my thyroid medication, I have Hashimotos too.

Now I’m on the correct dosage of thyroid medication, I don’t suffer.

it was absolutely awful, I also had massive muscular knots in my back too, again since sorting this out I don’t.

When you say your thyroid levels are good, is this what your GP has told you? As what they call good and what they are, are very different.

Best wishes

Thanks Peanut31, appreciate your help!

By good, both my T3 and T4 are 88% through the range (6.41 and 20.8) and TSH is 0.315 - this is from a medichecks blood test. The only thing that was out of sync was my folate!

I have previously had T4-T3 conversion issues (I am on thyroxine only) but somehow these seem to have resolved for the moment, although I'm not sure how as I haven't taken any supplements etc for quite a long time.

I'm also confused that my symptoms continue despite optimal Thyroid hormone levels!!

How did you get your medication right?

Hi

I self medicate after Levothyroxine via GP didn’t work.

It was a case of tweaking it, and keeping a diary of symptoms.

I’m on NDT and a small amount of Levothyroxine now.

Best wishes

I too suffer terrible neck pain and think it is folate related.
