Quick update on bloods - happy with analysis but posting for interest/comparison - also CRP info?

I did manage to get the bloods done and thought it worth a quick before and after. I'm mostly happy now with how to analyse but don't know if anyone is interested in efficacy of different approaches. I've mostly followed advice I was given here, except that I could no longer get Thorn basic b's so switched to pure encapsulations. I could probably still eat a bit more liver but do have some liver pate most weeks. I have a Vitamin D spray which I usually forget to take, need to get better on this.

The one I'm quite interested in is CRP - I think this is a measure of inflammation? It's gone up a bit which would make sense as I've got a bit more joint pain at the moment, I'd be interested in any thoughts/links/advice on this please?

Anyway, here we go...

Hi Foggy

I think you can see an improvement in vitamins and if you have had the same advice I was given when I joined, just keep going.🙂

I can't make any comment on the inflammation marker other than I believe it can be affected by illnesses (flu etc) and goodness knows there have been enough of those going round this year but others may have more perspective on this.

I think when you are on NDT (that's right isn't it from your last post?) it very much dose by symptoms and use other vitals to manage. Blood tests tend to be less reliable but I would need to call in another person who has the same experience. Bear with me 🙃👍

I can only think of pennyannie (sorry penny - I am calling you into stuff today 😬👍) I owe you one or possibly several!

Thanks Charlie, 100% no rush on this one! I'm not yet on NDT but about to start a trial; that's a good point, I've been monitoring temp and pulse as Dr Peatfield recommends but had lapsed a bit so will keep pn that :)

I have CRP done for my Arthritis activity if your having some joint pains it’s possible thats what your noticing with the CRP.

Thanks Batty. I do get some "creaky" joints but no arthritis diagnosis thankfully, hopefully with getting treatment it will improve; I did have a bit of a cold when I took the blood so as Charlie-Farley said that could well be it. Hope your arthritis isn't giving you too much grief (I've heard this kind of weather isn't ideal)

Vitamin D dropped a lot by March 23

Presumably you have increased vitamin D supplement

Low vitamin D leads to joint pain

B12 and folate need improvement

Are you taking separate B12 as well as vitamin B complex

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate methyl folate supplement and continue separate B12

Thanks as ever Slow Dragon. I'd actually stopped taking Vitamin D but have restarted with a spray (including K2) since the test. That's interesting that a lack leads to joint pains.

Vast majority of thyroid patients need to supplement vitamin D continuously

Likely to need higher dose in winter

Test twice year and maintain at least over 80nmol minimum. Between 100-125nmol might be better

Do you also supplement magnesium and vitamin K2 Mk7

Once you Improve level, very likely you will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there.

Test twice yearly via NHS private testing service when supplementing

Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is very effective as it avoids poor gut function.

There’s a version made that also contains vitamin K2 Mk7.
