I've just been reading about Liposomal Vitamin C and wondered if anyone is taking this as it seems to be a good choice for people who are sensitive to ascorbic acid or calcium ascorbate.

I tried it a few years ago on the advice of a private practioner. I found the cost of it extortionate and couldn't continue with it. If you don't want ascorbic acid or calcium ascorbate then maybe look at food source Vit C supplements, eg acerola cherry. I use one by Time Health.

Or, for a real on your plate food source, consider kiwi fruit. Obviously not as convenient as tablets, capsules etc. but delicious! There are lots of kiwi fruit recipes and nutritional info on this website zespri.com/en-UK/blogdetail...

I also love kiwi fruit RedApple but would probably have to eat a lot of them each day to get enough vitamin C

Solgar Ester C is calcium ascorbate, your opening post suggests you want to avoid that.

The label states that it is non -acidic

It also states that it's calcium ascorbate and as I said your opening post suggests that you want to avoid it so if you don't want calcium ascorbate then you'd avoid Ester C.

Just to add my two cents, I’ve come across new information that I didn’t know about before, be careful of oxalates in foods as they can affect thyroid. Kiwi is high in it and it can take ages before one figured out what is causing general malaise. This author has done a lot of new research on it, amazon.co.uk/Toxic-Superfoo...

Thanks for your reply melodie, I certainly won't be overloading on kiwi or any of the high oxalate foods.

You can get excess oxylates from any form of Vit C including supplemented.

And just to confuse matters further, EsterC that you didn’t want to supplement is the form found least likely to overload oxylates 😬.

Like the discussion about Orange Juice yesterday. I wonder just how much vitamin C is available from so- called fresh fruit by the time it gets to us. I remember some research (from thirty years ago) saying that by the time an orange was picked and got to market in the USA there was only one unit of vitamin C left in the orange. I do not think things will have improved all that much over the years, maybe even worse. Neither oranges or kiwi fruit are grown in this country making our situation even more questionable. Maybe we might be better just using the ascorbic acid (if we can). Is it Dr. Myhill who reckons this is the way? Far from ideal.

Yeh, she suggests mixing it with magnesium (as opposed to calcium).

Another thought Carri3 if you were to find the liposomal too expensive for ongoing use.
