Blood test results, guidance before phonecall with GP

Hi allI hoped you could help have a look at my most recent bloods taken at GP surgery please? These are the repeat bloods done at GPs request after saying my antibodies were high, they didn't want to be over treating me but then they couldn't find my results.

Bloods were taken before 9am, last dose levothyroxine 24hrs before blood draw.

Background:

On 25mg levothyroxine, 53kg, aged 40.

Want to stay on levothyroxine to help ovulate

Feeling exhausted, unrested

Laryngitis in Dec for 3 weeks given antibiotics

Clear little mouth blisters in back of throat that feel like popcorn being stuck that are reoccurring

Throat ulcers - swab taken GP.

Not taking any other medication or supplements

A couple of my results are below reference range. Am I to be concerned?

I have an appointment next week to discuss my results and would like to go armed to fight my corner to stay on levothyroxine and whether dosage is correct. I pushed GP for extra bloods iron, vit d etc but appreciate those taken might not give the full picture.

Any help at all would be amazing.

Thank you.

Hi , The TPOab (thyroid peroxidase antibodies) are normal . ( therefore no evidence of Hashimoto's/ Autoimmune Thyroid Disease at present )

they had previously said 'antibodies were high' , but now can't find any evidence of this previous test .So we don't know if they were previously high, or if that comment was an error.

After the normal TPOab result says 'need to speak to Doctor' ~ ? they may be going to ask to you to come off levo.

if you do manage to persuade them to let you stay on it ... then your TSH is too high at 3.8 and a dose increase is needed .

Show them these recommendations for GP's to keep TSH lower than 2/2.5 in patients on Levo . healthunlocked.com/thyroidu... -list-of-references-recommending-gp-s-keep-tsh-lower

Just testing TSH is completely inadequate

But with TSH over 2 you need next dose increase in levothyroxine up to 50mcg daily

Which brand of levothyroxine are you currently taking

Try to not change brand as you increase dose

Bloods should be retested again in another 6-8 weeks

ALWAYS book early morning test, ideally just before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Folate is over range

Folate is Goldilocks vitamin for pregnancy. You don’t want too little or too much

I'm on MercuryPharma levothyroxine. Will asked if I can be upped to 50mg.I'm not taking any supplements and take my levothyroxine at night.

I will have a read of the folate links thank you SlowDragon.

I would query your white count on your blood test, your white blood cells are your infection fighters, and although your CRT levels are low, your white count is lower than the lowest number of the range - yours is 3.64 and the range is 3.8 to 11.5. I am no expert, but the only time my white count dropped just out of the range like that, I was on immunosupressants, and they were stopped until my white count went back up - and that only happened the once in 10 years. So 99% of the time even with immunosuppressants (taken to dampen down the white cells) my white count was within the range.

Is my white count any cause for concern. I will ask the GP about this. I do feel tired and run down. I'm not on any medication other than 25mg levothyroxine and not taking any supplements. I had antibiotics at Christmas time for my laryngitis but that's it.

Low white blood cell count can be result of being hypothyroid

Ahhh really thank you so much. I feel much more informed and prepared for my GP appointment.

As your Mum has hypothyroid…..presumably autoimmune?

Autoimmune disease often runs in families

Ask if GP has copy of previous high thyroid antibodies test results

I will request my previous results and hopefully will get a bigger picture of whats going on.My mam unfortunately just goes off what her GP says and prescribes. I've mentioned this forum and the information that is available to help.
