Hi all I had a yearly health assessment yesterday at my GPS (my first one ever!) I didn’t know I was having a blood test so took my thyroxine and Thorns B right! She’s testing my TSH and full blood panel! Anyway I told her I had a gastric band and she said I need PTH blood test due to lack of vitamin absorption? Has anyone else had one?
many thanks

If your GP springs a surprise blood test on you then refuse and explain about the biotin. Rebook at your convenience at 9am. Otherwise they will get scewed results and possibly try and reduce your dose on that basis.
If your GP is concerned about vitamin absorption then get her also to run ferritin, folate, B12 & D3 tests.
hi there I had a call from a dr the other day saying my bloods were fine! Even though I told her I had taken my thyroxine and my Jarrow B right which contained Biontin! My cardiovascular score has gone up slightly and she asked if I wanted to take Statins as a preventative measure!
You would normally only have a parathyroid tested if Calcium level was high and VitD was low, if these haven’t been tested then doing a parathyroid test is a bit pointless on its own.
Also …….A parathyroid test has to be done at same time as vitamin D and calcium and done at a hospital phlebotomy department as test has to be processed immediately
Far more important at this stage to test vitamin D, full iron panel test including ferritin, B12 and folate
Book retest early morning and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test and stop vitamin B complex 5-7 days before test
