HelloHas anyone got any tips for the fingertip blood test. I've just done one this morning and hardly any blood came out. Nowhere near the amount I need to send off. Has anyone had similar problems?
Thanks

Drink a pint or two of water in the hour before, make sure you have moved around and are warm, hand in a bowl of warm/ hot water for a few minutes before stabbing helps, I used the side of my thumb last time and it worked well 🤗
oh, don't be tempted to squeeze as it can damage the blood and actually stop the flow
They will send you another
Drink plenty of water day BEFORE test
Exercise for 10 minutes before test
Hot shower or hand in bowl hot water
Stand up to do test
Windmill arm just before test
Prick finger at side ….roughly half way down finger nail

Medichecks and BH also offer private blood draw at clinic near you, or private nurse to your own home…..for an extra fee
Two things I have found helpful for me to get blood out for a finger-prick test :
1) Drink plenty of water the day before and also the morning of the test.
2) Medichecks recommends pricking your ring finger first, then trying other fingers if you don't get enough from the ring finger. I don't know why the ring finger is recommended, but I get very little blood from there. I get far more out of my index finger.
Whereabouts in your finger(s) do you use the lancet? I find that along the side, close to the nail, and also just below the nail works best for me.
3) A suggestion I read from someone on the forum just a few days ago - and sorry, I can't remember who it was - said they got blood out more easily if they take an aspirin beforehand, but I can't remember how long beforehand. Aspirin is a blood thinner.
