I have been taking Levothyroxine for 2 years and am still not feel right. I was due a blood test today and along with the TSH request was one for Bone Profile. I have googled it and have got a bit of info but cannot find anything about it here. So the question is:- Has anybody else had this test and/or
Does anybody know the direct correlation between the results of this test and hypothyroidism?
My last TSH result which was 6 months ago was 0.9.

It is to keep a check on your bone density because the levothyroxine and being hypo can cause osteoporosis that's what I was told by my doctor , just another thing to go with the weight , tiredness , cold all the time .............. I'm sure you know the rest.

Hypothyroids can be short of Vitamin D, one of the main causes of osteoporosis. There is great debate re osteoporosis and the thyroxine connection, but most doctors tend to go down the 'can' cause osteoporosis route. Read up about it so you know as much as you can.
I agree with Muffy. The other thing could depend on your age -my doc ordered me a bone density scan as base line for my 50's. Lol! It was fine. Everything runs slower with hypothyroidism including calcium uptake -so goes the arguement. main thing is to ensure your hypothyroidims is being optimally treated & check your Vitamin D levels (blood test) -a low level really interferes with uptake of calcium therefore would affects your bone density in the end. I was consuming plenty of calcium but very little uptake said the doc due to low vitamin D.....luckily caught before it had damged my bones.

Hi I have underactive thyroid on 150mg thyroxine also diagnosed fibromyalgia . There's pass few months have been hell . Iv had pain in all my body tightening in musels tired feeling so low and poorly had lots of blood test non came back has bad . But iodine is low . And had a Bone Profile Blood Test come back had borderline . Any one lend some advice so fed up hear.. So tired and worn out I'm struggling to go to work and to function day to day . . This is not me . . Love to all xx
