New Results from Medichecks

Hi Its me again. I hope you can view my older posts which will save me from retyping them again. I last posted in November.

I hve just had a test done by Medichecks for TSH T3 & T4. I did it first thing in the morning & omitted my Thyroxine for 24hours. I also omitted any vitamin B supplements for 7 days prior to the test. Im currently still taking 125mcgs thyroxine. After you last replies I have been rather unwell as I caught Covid again in December & my fatigue got a lot worse so I just havnt had the energy to do anything about accessing T3 privately yet but decided to do a further blood test last week The results are

TSH 0.47

T3 3.4

T4 20

My vitamins etc were all last done in November & I have now been allowed 6 monthly B12 injections again at my GP's after they were stopped by them during lockdown.

I dont really feel these results show any real change from my previous test so your advice would be greatly received. Should I continue to try & access some private T3 ? Or should I try to see a private Endocrinologist.? I'm at a loss what else to do. I did e mail Thyroid UK but never received a response. Possibly I put the address in wrong ( I have dreadful brain fog) I will say I'm slightly scared of going it alone without Endocrinology or GP back up. I still havn't received a call back from October about a different problem so I don't expect I could contact my GP or get to do a further referral.

I have a lot of other health problems & am going into hospital for surgery next week.

Thanks in advance

You can use the 'contact us' button on this page to email for the doctor list. thyroiduk.org/help-and-supp...

If you feel happier with an Endo/doctor then I would go privately to see one. You can then get cheaper T3 anyway.

6 monthly B12 injections sounds very sparse. Usually they allow 3 monthly but many need more frequestly than that. Best ask on the PA group here on HealthUnlocked.

That’s NOT the list of recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologists

That’s just private doctors

The list is by email only from Thyroid U.K. office

Thanks. I was on 3 monthly B12 injections since 2011 till lockdown when ours GP’s saw fit to stop them unless you had PA. My Endocrinologist asked my GP to re instate them but after 2 or 3 injections my endocrinologist said 6 monthly would be fine as my levels were ok. I guess I will have to get those checked privately too! Those needles are vicious.!

Sadly, your endo doesn’t seem to know that B12 levels mean nothing if you’re on B12 injections.

Maybe try showing the endo this (it isn’t just for people with confirmed pernicious anaemia): pernicious-anaemia-society....

You’re definitely exhibiting neurological symptoms if brain fog is a big issue.

Thank you. That’s really interesting. I’m so angry at our GP’s reading this. I have had severe fatigue for past 18 months & this could drift have been contributing. When I saw the Endocrinologist he couldn’t understand why the GP’s had stopped it. What is more annoying is that even when they reopened they still refused it. I havnt been able to see a GP in the past 18 months but I will keep a note of this for when I can. Thanks.

I’m in York. Leeds may be a good option.

Do you agree that nothing has really changed after this blood test? I don’t believe dr’s can leave things telling you your results are fine if they are not!

I’m on such a lot of medication already & a bit worried that meds may interact with each other.
