Medichecks results.

Hi, I have just had my results back from medichecks and I wondered if anyone would be able to help me to understand them please. I am taking 75mg Thyroxine and 20mg Thybon Henning. Tsh 0.663 0.27- 42

Free t3 3.9 3.1 - 6.8

Free t4 11.8 12- 22

I took the test because I feel really tired and also because the tests my gp does will now only test tsh. Mine was low last time and so they reduced my Thyroxine to 50mg. I felt awful so I increased it again to 75mg. I'm not really sure what to do as I have another blood test with the gp next Friday and I can see them saying to reduce it again. I'm in a bit of a muddle if I'm honest so any help would be appreciated.

I'm not surprised you're tired with those low results! You're still hypo.

What I don't understand is why your FT3 is so low when taking 20 mcg T3. It should be much higher than that. How do you take your T3? On an empty stomach either one hour before eating or two hours after, and at least two hours away from any supplements or medication? You really don't seem to be absorbing it.

Whatever you do, don't let them reduce your dose! Just refuse. They are not there to dictate your treatment to you, they are their to advise you, but you don't have to take their advice. Your treatment should be with your informed consent and I'm informing you that your FT3 is dangerously low.

Thank you for your reply. I take both when I first get up so yes on an empty stomach. I don't eat breakfast till a lot later around an hour and a half.

So, you take all 20 mcg T3 in one go? Maybe, the day before the blood test, it might be a good idea to split your dose in two, and take half of it 8 - 12 hours before the blood draw. So, if the blood draw is at 9 am, take it between 9 pm and 1 am. Because twenty four hours after your last dose, there won't be much left in the blood.
