Are you on replacement thyroid hormones

Or was this just a general test

Was test done early morning

Are you currently taking any vitamin supplements

Kidney function

Have you had GFR levels tested?

(Low GFR linked to being hypothyroid and reversible once thyroid is treated)

Any autoimmune disease in your family?

No vitamin D test result

Also need FULL thyroid test

TSH, Ft4 and Ft3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested

hi, thankyou for replying, yes its due to low gfr , my bloods were done around 10.30 am, this has been going on for years and the gp is only doing these test because i went to see a private gastro consultant with ongoing problems and he said you need a full thyroid blood test in his recommendations to the doctor, the gp says no further action needed with the results.

if you have low GFR you definitely need FULL thyroid and vitamin testing

many medics unaware of the interconnection

We see many hypothyroid patients on here with low GFR, especially if they have low Ft3

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

The GFR is reversibly reduced (by about 40%) in more than 55% of adults with hypothyroidism[40] due to several reasons.

Gut issues like acid reflux, bloating, IBS and constipation/diarrhoea all common hypothyroid issues, especially with hair

Any autoimmune diseases in family?

20% of Hashimoto's patients never have raised antibodies

If both antibodies are negative, ultrasound scan of thyroid can be helpful
