Hello lovely Thyroid Folks - Well, after some hectic Facebook marketplace efforts, and delay for holidays till next year - my private blood test results are in.

Some results are B12 focused as I looking for asnwers from that Forum as well. So please bear with.

I am not on any Thyroid meds - in fact only on hypertension meds and HRT. HRT levels have been checked and are okay.

Here they are...its a mixed bag..I think?

B12 Related Tests:

Blood Glucose - 5.6 mg/L - Range 3.3 -7.8 mmol/L - in range - okay

Serum B12 - 512 - Range 190 - 883 - looks okay.. good..

HbA1c = 36 - Range 20 -41 mM/mHb - not triggering diabetes ?

Active B12 - >256 pmol - Range 25.2 - 165 - Looks good? = not B12 deficient ?

Intrinsic Factor AB - 1.8u/ml - Range shown as 0 - 6 - dunno what that means - i am IFAB positive...? but is that ..good positive..?

Ferritin - 157 ug/L - Range 15 to 300 = half way - looks okay right?

Folate - 7.9ug/L - Range 3.1 - 20 - low end but in range?

Thyroid Tests:

TSH - Mid Jan - 14.00 pm - = 0.7 miu/L - Range 0.35 - 4.94

TSH - 26th Jan - 13.30pm = 1.16 uU/mL - Range 0.27 - 4.2 - low end, but in range?

Free T4 - 26 Jan - 13.30pm = 17 pmol /L - Range 11 - 26 - mid range

Free T3 - 26 Jan 13.30pm = 3.7 pmol / L - Range 3.9 - 6.8 - below range...?

T3 - ??? FYI - I havent mentioned much about my mood so much, but i have been fighting against depressive / low moods for a long time, bouts of high anxiety and insecurity are regular companions - all from being previously quite fool-hardy, fast baking, 25 mile walks ...lets all go to the party this weekend type ... before.

So, any comments and observations very welcome . FYI- I still have ( 2 years +) the vast fatigue, muscle aching legs, brian fog, burning hands ( much worse from 6pm onwards??) the aching tennis elbow thing, fuzzy fingertips all the time, tingling numb feet all the time, nerve damage in feet, high pitched tinnitus all the time.

Is there a reason you had bloods done early afternoon? It's recommended getting them done at 9am or as close to as possible as this is when TSH is highest. If GP is dosing by TSH you will suffer as a result.

There's no vit D result?

Other vits are fine except folate. What supplements are you taking?

Your FT3 is horribly low, no wonder you have mood symptoms. You need a 25mcg dose increase.

Hi Jaydee and ...thank yoo!

I am not on any Thyroid meds...? 25mcg dose of.... ?

Not on anything but high blood pressure tablets....

My Vit D was 2 points off the baseline - i.e. borderline as at 13th Jan - as per my NHS Tests - and I am now on OTC supplements. I am knackered all the time,....and yes, ....moody cow proper! ..i get like a dragon...all pent up to roar.....then go to a mouse....squeaking away...then fall asleep..wake up...knackered..

Took the bloods in pm as they were closest in date to take. I will go early morning from here onwards!

Apologies. It helps to explain when you post you are looking for a diagnosis.

So your low folate might be causing you symptoms. High B12 can be caused by not enough B12 which is a bit of a weird thing but can happen. Suggest a good methyl B complex (look for 'active' vitamins). That will contain all B vits and keep them in balance. Thorne Basic B is a good one, shop around for best price.

Have you tried selenium supplementation? Can help thyroid function.

Your TSH is way too good to get a Hypo diagnosis, getting bloods next time at 9am or as close as possible will help that.

Hi Jaydee - No apols needed - i should have been clearer.

I am defo going to try the Methy B complex -I think I will have a go with the selenium as well 👍🌺 .. thank you for looking at these results and feed back your views.

It really does help when your mind is bouncing ( sluggishly ) around. I wondered in my Thyroid ratios were ....dodgy...? I am in this forum and the PA forum looking for answers...all inputs are very much appreciated.

If you are persuing a PA diagnosis then wait until you have gone as far as you can with that before supplementing with a B complex. Taking anything with B12 will throw your results out for 3 months. Also if you are B12 deficient you should start that first before folate.

Have you had any thyroid antibody tests done?

Your FT3 is under range (as you already know) which isn’t great—that suggests there’s a thyroid hormone problem of some kind but there’s nothing screaming out from your vitamin and mineral levels, other than low-ish folate and I don’t think that will be causing the low T3.

Your TSH has been going quite low at times, which is why I’m wondering about auto-immune thyroid disease—antibody tests might help to rule that in?

I had a test called TPO ( Thyroid Paroxidase abs ) Result was <10 iu/mL - with Range - 0 - 50.

I also had an immune screen of the following:

By Immunofluorescence

:-

Antinuclear abs. Negative

Mitochondrial abs. Negative

Smooth muscle abs. Negative

Gast. Parietal cell abs. Negative

Reticulin abs. Negative

LKM antibodies Negative

Not sure if these ate Thyroid related?

Ooh, and just seen your Vit D result on a slightly older post.

Vitamin D - 29 nmol/L - RR = 25-50

That’s rather low. Ever had your calcium levels checked? It’s a very long shot but it would be worth getting hyperparathyroidism ruled out (despite how it sounds it’s not a thyroid thing). mayoclinic.org/diseases-con...

I’ve got the context now—lots of peripheral neuropathy going on, no clear cause. It’s not diabetes and you’re currently taking B12 shots…

Oh wait. Edited to add that I’ve just seen you’re not taking the B12 shots.

Your active B12 is quite high then—for someone not supplementing? Have you supplemented in the past??
