Hi, I don’t know if actually being given levo which suits me for 3 months (Mercury Pharma) or taking the above has helped, but my almost daily episodes of diarrhoea have cleared up. Also, I was having increasing chest pains which have completely cleared up taking vitamin D3. Just in case this helps anyone else with these symptoms.
Just a question now which I would appreciate help with - I’ve also got Sjögren’s and a poor sense of taste and smell. I’ve read that taking zinc supplements can help some people with these senses - I’ve bought zinc now but am afraid to take it as don’t even know if I’m low on it or if I could cause myself damage taking it without medical supervision?
thank you as usual for your valued help!

I was interested in your post so was disappointed to see there are no replies yet. I don’t know if SeasideSusie knows about zinc, but if she doesn’t, she’ll know who does.
Otherwise, maybe retitle your post - Should I try zinc?

Like many things, taking it when you don't need it could cause problems, taking too much zinc can cause symptoms such as nausea, dizziness, headaches, upset stomach, vomiting, it can block absorption of copper and cause copper deficiency. Zinc and copper should be balanced and we hypos tend to have one high and the other low so it's a good idea to test before supplementing.
I have read that zinc should be approx half way through it's range.
Zinc is fairly easy to get from a normal healthy diet, eg meat (beef, lamb, pork), shellfish, lentils, chickpeas, beans, pumpkin seeds, cashews, almonds, pine nuts, peanuts, milk, cheese, eggs, dark chocolate (70% and above).
