Hi all,

Posting on behalf of my sister, 41 years old, currently on 75mcg Levothyroxine.

Any help on understanding her recent bloods from medichecks would be appreciated.

Test taken as advised first thing in the morning before any meds or food/drink.

TSH 1.26 (0.27-4.2)

Ft3 3.7 (3.1 - 6.8)

ft4 15.6 (12-22)

TPO Antibodies 8.3 (0-34)

TG Antibodies 23.2 (0-115)

Serum Folate 7 nmol/L (8.83 - 60.8)

Active b12 138 (37.5 - 188)

Vitamin d 53 (50 - 250)

Ferritin 40 (30 - 150)

Obviously low ferritin, folate and vitamin D.

How is her conversion to T3?

What do the Antibodies show? Is this not caused by hashimotos?

I think she could probably do with an increase of 25mcg of levo?

Many thanks in advance

Low antibodies, negative for Hashi's with those results. It's possible they might be positive if tested again and it's possible to have Hashi's without raised antibodies .

I agree. She may be better with TSH below 1 and FT4 and FT3 are both low in their ranges.

Nkt lossible to say about conversion until she has had increase in Levo to get TSH below 1 which will give highest possible FT4 then look at FT3 to see if conversion is poor. Nutrients need to be optimal for thyroid hormone to work properly and good conversion so these need work:

Folate is suggestive of folate deficiency so discuss with GP.

Vit D is recommended to be 100-150nmol.

Low ferritin requires iron panel testing to see if there is iron deficiency, along with full blood count to see if she has anaemia, you can have iron deficiency with or without anaemia and you can have low ferritin with or without iron deficiency .
