So that we can interpret your results, please add all reference ranges plus units of measurement for Vit D and B12 (ranges vary from lab to lab so we need the ranges that come with your results).

b12 ng/l. 253 ( normal range 211-911 )

Bit D nomL 61 . ( normal range 49 )

I just thought my b12 on the low side .

The Dr didn’t seem worried have had a few problems last few months diabetic type 2 .

Apparently my markers were up on blood tests twice in 4 months needed anti - blood thinning injections . Have had loads blood tests ladt few months map maybe that dropped levels too be honest. Feel bit groggy on these folic acid tabs .

Thanks for reply 😊

ALWAYS test thyroid levels early morning

Looking at previous posts, you use an asthma inhaler?

Steroids in inhaler can lower TSH

ESSENTIAL to consider Ft4 and Ft3 results

They look low

Folate and B12 are both very low

Are you vegetarian or vegan?

Approx how old are you

Low B12 is more common as we get older

Has GP tested for Pernicious Anaemia?

Low B12 symptoms

b12deficiency.info/signs-an...

methyl-life.com/blogs/defic...

If you have any B12 symptoms request GP test for PA if not been tested yet

Assuming test is negative and GP won’t prescribe B12 injections or supplements

Suggest you consider taking a separate B12 in 2-3 weeks after starting on folic acid

B12 range in U.K. is too wide

Interesting that in this research B12 below 400 is considered inadequate

once you finish folic acid prescription ……consider a daily vitamin B complex …..one with folate in (not folic acid)

This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help improve B12 levels too

Difference between folate and folic acid

chriskresser.com/folate-vs-...

once your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule)

currently cheaper on eBay at £18

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

endo.confex.com/endo/2016en...

endocrinenews.endocrine.org...

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate methyl folate supplement

Would suspect your vitamin levels are low BECAUSE thyroid hormones are too low

Have you had iron and ferritin levels tested too

Vitamin D is too low

Aiming for vitamin D at least over 75nmol

Do you normally supplement vitamin D…..if yes how much

U.K. government now recommends everyone supplements vitamin D Oct to April minimum

NHS Guidelines on dose vitamin D required

ouh.nhs.uk/osteoporosis/use...

GP will often only prescribe to bring vitamin D levels to 50nmol.

Some areas will prescribe to bring levels to 75nmol or even 80nmol

leedsformulary.nhs.uk/docs/...

GP should advise on self supplementing if over 50nmol, but under 75nmol (but they rarely do)

mm.wirral.nhs.uk/document_u...

But improving to around 80nmol or 100nmol by self supplementing may be better

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/218...

vitamindsociety.org/pdf/Vit...

Once you Improve level, likely you will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there.

Test twice yearly via NHS private testing service when supplementing
