I’m still on my journey, trying to get my levels at the right spot for me. I’ve just had a further increase of levothyroxine to 75 mcgs, much to the doctors dismay. They didn’t want to increase my dose and insisted they only increase after blood test show it’s needed. I have taken all your advice re supplements, am gluten and dairy free, did the blood test as per suggestions on here, 8.30 am etc and my TSH came back as 4.8, so I do believe your advice has got me to this stage, so thank you, particularly to seaside susie, slowdragon and grey goose.
Just a quick question, I struggle taking magnesium so wonder if you knowledgeable people can point me in the direction of a good quality magnesium drops please.
TIA

Which form of magnesium are you looking for, there are so many different forms and they each help with specific things so you need to choose the right one for you:
Which brand of levothyroxine are you currently taking
Try to not change brand while increasing dose
Magnesium
Thorne magnesium capsules……I tip powder out into small glass of water and drink immediately after evening meal. Doesn’t have unpleasant or strong taste.
If you need a magnesium to help improve constipation. Calm vitality magnesium powder is cheap and easy to use. Just mix in cup of water …..it fizzes up nicely. Best start on low dose and increase until get desired effect. Too much can cause diarrhoea
All magnesium supplements must be at least 4 hours away from levothyroxine and best taken early evening or bedtime (if you don’t take levothyroxine at bedtime)
Thank you slowdragon, I am currently taking workhardt accord. How we when the doctor emailed to say I needed an increase I was given 25 mcgs of Tera, to add to my already 50 mcgs. Having learnt not to mix brands, and that Tera is a brand that may cause problems I returned them to the pharmacy. I just said that I’d already tried this brand and it disagreed with me ( pharmacist was trying to tell me they are all the same!) I told him I’m already taking accord workhardt and wish to stay with same brands, particularly as I’ve had a reaction to Tera in the past. He did reluctantly change to my existing brand. Thank goodness you guys on here know more than a lot of medical staff. Thank you so much.
I take my levothyroxine 5 am when I get up to use the bathroom so it’s hours after and before I eat: will look at your advice re magnesium, many thanks.
