Is it my hashimotos or effects of venlafaxine?

I am currently taking 25mcg of t3 and 125mg of levothyroxine. ( my earlier posts were incorrect, I wasn't on 50mcg). My latest blood tests are below. All my other bloods are good B12 , D, etc. I seem to be overheating regularly and sweating profusely. This has been happening for a few years now, but I put it down to the menopause. My menopausal symptoms are all under control now and the episodes are getting more frequent. I have considered of I'm over medicated, but there are no other signs, ie loose bowels, palpitations etc. I have been taking venlafaxine for 20 plus years and I know it makes me sweat more. Does anything think it could be those mexs rather than my thyroid? I would really appreciate any help.

Venlafaxine is an SNRI antidepressant and sweating is a well known side effect with them. Its very common. Has Ven always affected you this way or is it a recent thing? If its recent it could be the combinaton of the menopause and the medication. I've never been able to tolerate any antidepressant due to sweating. It might be worth asking your GP to prescribe an alternative if its bothering you.

Thank you for responding. I've always sweated more on it but the overheating and extreme sweating has been more recent. I'm thinking of coming off the venlafaxine completely.

If you are considering it please do so under medical guidance, dont just stop as you can get violent withdrawal symptoms. You'll probably need to titrate down slowly and gradually.

good morning 😀 I have been on venlafaxine for years to and never had sweats with it! ( menopausal at 39!) now 57! I stared having night sweats about a year and a half ago and became very sleepy and lethargic! I did look on Google and it suggested Hypothyroid! So I got a blood test and I was hypothyroid! I’m still titrating levothyroxine and am having night sweats again but once I have an increase my sweats tend to stop. I hope this might be helpful. 🤩

I don't get night sweats any more now that I am on the right dose of hrt, its more overheating easily and sweating lots when I do anything.

ok but I still overheat in the daytime! This summer was awful! Good luck anyway 😍

This is probably out of left field but I eventually discovered my hot flushes/sweating were caused by wheat! I am on T3 only (have also been on T4 and T3/T4 combo in the past), however no matter what I took I always had the flushes (I am post menopausal). Eventually I realised it was wheat, and eliminating it has also eliminated the problem! Maybe give that a try?

Thank you for your suggestion. Can I ask why you've gone on to t3 only?

I have poor conversion and just ended up with more T4 in my blood and not feeling well when on T4 only. T3 is far better for me, my brain fog has finally lifted!
