I wasn't satisfied with your results with my GP so booked in for an Advanced Thyroid Function Blood test.My results are as follows:

TSH 2.17 mlU/L

Free T3 5.3 pmol/L

Free Thyroxine18.8 pmol/L

Thryoglobulin Antibodies 275.9klU/L

Thyroid peroxidase Antibodies10.7kl/L

My CRP HS is 4.75mg/L

Ferritin 72ug/L

Foliate 8.3 nmol/L

B12 89pmol/L

Vit D 55 nmol/L

I spoke to my doctor who doesn't seem concerned about

The results. The Thryoglobulin seems really high but the

Thyroid hormones are within the ranges.

My symptoms are still the same ... weight gain, brain fog,

Heart racing when I do any aerobic exercise and massive

Continual hair loss :(

My GP doesn't know what else to do and has asked for more

Blood tests

Ca anyone offer advice please?

Would you be able to edit your post and add the ranges for each blood test? They vary from lab to lab. It's the numbers in brackets after the result.

What time of day was this test taken? It's best to get it done as close to 9 am as possible for highest TSH result.

Raised antibodies mean you have Hashimoto's disease. It's autoimmune and slowly destroys the thyroid gland over many years. It looks like you're in the early stages though as your FT3 is at 60%. It can take years for numbers to change significantly.

FT3: 5.3 pmol/l (Range 3.1 - 6.8) 59.46%

You do have some vitamin deficiencies though, which if you improved would make you feel better and help stop you hair falling out! Thyroid people have low stomach acid which causes malabsorption of nutrients.

Your folate is out of range. GP should give you some folic acid supplements.

Ferritin (iron) is low. Start eating chicken liver pate or can supplement but should have a full iron panel before you do that.

Vit D should be closer to 100. Buy some D with K2 in oil ideally. Use the calc to work out how much you need to take. grassrootshealth.net/projec...

B12 is on the low side 34% of range. Buy a good B complex with the active form of vitamins methylfolate and methyl B12. Thorne Basic B is used by many here.

If you raise these vitamin levels you will improve how you feel now by a lot and keep you ticking over. Would retest every 4 months.

Gee thanks again! I did my test at 9am. Have been reading about Hashimotos And thought my results were leaning towards it. I will look into vitamins. I do appreciate your help ;)

Don’t start with the vitamins etc until the GP has done bloods as it will skew results. Some people can’t get on with folic acid and need the methylfolate version. Good luck 😀

Thank you! I have more bloods next week! Thanks for the info!

For someone not on replacement hormone treatment for a thyroid condition, your thyroid results are fine. Your symptoms could well be caused by low folate, ferritin and Vit.D levels. You have a positive antibody test, but this simply means you are more likely to develop Hashimoto's than those without, and thyroid checks should be carried out regularly, particularly if you remain symptomatic despite optimising your vitamin and mineral levels.

What’s the range on CRP test for inflammation

Request Full iron panel test for anaemia

Ferritin can be high due to inflammation. Iron can be low

Vitamin D needs improving to at least 80nmol

Request ultrasound scan of thyroid

And coeliac blood test BEFORE considering trial on strictly gluten free diet

Sorry for the late reply as I've been full up with a cold 😪 both bloods done by Medicheck and my surgery my ferritin was on the low side so my GP put on ferritin tablets for 28 days my CRP taken 28 Oct was 4.75 range <3 I've been supplementing D3/K2 myself since December I will ask about coeliac blood test tomorrow when I'm scheduled for another blood test they are testing for cortisol (no one knows what else to test!!) Should I inquire having iodine tested?Appreciate your help!

since it seems you’re in the early stages I’d investigate LDN (low dose naltrexone) in your position. Get your vits and minerals up but if you want to get those antibodies down before more damage is done then I’d get on some LDN pronto 😊

Thank you! Just had a read of LDN has anyone else been prescribed? It does sound promising!

most people’s thyroids are too destroyed for it to be hugely helpful, but it’s certainly got some merit in those with high antibodies 😊
