Between the support of several folks here and having a great doctor, I now have a prescription for 4 months for the same amount of Synthroid (25 mcg) and 1/2 x 25 mcg Cytomel per day.
My doctor agreed about keeping the dose the same (5 mcg Cytomel x 2 -- divided in 3 doses), BUT he thinks it makes more sense splitting half of a 25 mcg in thirds in the interest of cost savings. The absolute change in dosage of Cytomel is only 2.5 mcg per day (12.5 mcg versus 10 mcg Cytomel per day) but as he said, cutting a half of 25 mcg tablet in 3 will result in some fragmentation of the tablet (I think it was Charley-Farley who called it "Lio dust"), so more likely I will be getting closer to an additional 2 mcg per day.
My doctor said that given my current fT4 levels (41.76% of Reference range) and fT3 (65.6% of Reference range) he doesn't think it will make a huge difference, but that I should monitor for any hyper symptoms, just in case.
My doctor is not at all concerned with my TSH being 0.10 (reference range (0.32-5.04) and thinks as long as it doesn't go down to 0.01 mU/liter he is fine. I am SO grateful that he reads the literature and goes with it. His words " with your research and my experience we will get this done right". The papers I have provided him, I was referred to here -- so its YOUR research and my doctor's experience (and willingness)!
There is a bit of a Cytomel 25 mcg tablet shortage here, but the pharmacy has secured 33 tablets (of which I will be taking 1/2, so will have 66 days worth) and they are trying to get more before January 2023 when they are supposed to be available.
I am very very thankful for you folks (special shout out to @tattybogle, @radd, @SlowDragon, @GreyGoose and @Imaan and additional support and cheer-leading from @Charley-Farley), an amazing doctor and a terrific pharmacist. I hope I didn't miss tagging anyone but I am so elated with the meeting with my doctor, I may have!
I hope everybody here can get the support they need to get well.
