Previous post suggests you possibly have both Hashimoto’s and Graves’ disease

Are you now under an endocrinologist

Are you getting B12 injections regularly

Have you had vitamin D, folate, ferritin and coeliac blood test done

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

What medications are you currently taking

Are you also on levothyroxine as well as Carbimazole?

Thanks for ur response SlowDragon

I was referred to Endo but don’t see one until mid November.

GP will not give me more B12 injections but have another test for end of October.

Just taking 100mgs PTU

Had all other test done not got coeliac D vitamins all ok.

Just wondered what the two test I posted are suggesting. One I believe is conformation of Graves not sure on the other.

Haven’t been confirmed that I have both Hashimotos & Graves but they are unable to stabilise me from keep flipping between hyper & hypo.

Any suggestion gratefully received 🙏

what were actual folate, ferritin and vitamin D results

How do you feel

How long since thyroid levels were last tested

How long have you been on 100mcg PTU

Serum thyroid peroxidase antibody concentration (XabCy) 1,020 kU/L [0 - 25]

Extremely high TPO antibodies suggests Hashimoto’s

You can have raised TPO antibodies with Graves’ disease…..but usually only mildly raised

TSH receptor antibody level (XaE04)> 40 W/L [< 1.75

High Trab test confirms Graves’ disease

Hi SlowDragon

Last test was September 9th I think and next is 24th October. With my last results my TSH had gone from 7.5 to 17.5 in a week so they reduced my PTU from 150mgs down to 100mgs. My T3 & T4 have dropped down too so will see what next lot of bloods is like.

I just take each day as it comes as been so long I have forgotten what it’s like to feel well. Still feel very exhausted heart rate has dropped down again, dry skin on soles of my feet, very dry eyes when I wake in the morning too.

Don’t have my test results with me for my vitamin levels as on holiday 🙏

Hey there again ;

I think this confirms that you have Hashimoto's running as well as Graves - they are both thyroid auto immune disease - neither has a cure - and treatment for Graves takes centre stage as Graves can be life threatening if not treated and seen as the more serious of the two.

Hashimoto's presents with transient hyper and hypo swings in symptoms as the gland is attacked and with every attack the thyroid's own hormone production becomes erratic and unstable and you will need the support of thyroid hormone replacement medication as the gland becomes damaged and disabled.

thyroidpharmacist.com

With Graves the T3 and T4 tend to rise much higher and continue rising which can cause serious health complications and why the AT drug is prescribed to block the T3 and T4 rising.

How are you doing, and are we still waiting for this endo appointment - next month isn't it ?

Hi PennyAnnie

Thanks for your response

Makes a bit more sense now.

Yes still waiting to see Endo on 16th November.

Have more bloods booked for 24th October with more vitamins to be checked. I’ve asked for another B12 along with magnesium, selenium zinc and can’t remember what else without my notes with me.

I just take each day as it comes as been so long I have forgotten what it’s like to feel well. Still feel very exhausted heart rate has dropped down again, dry skin on soles of my feet, very dry eyes when I wake in the morning too. Thank-you for sharing your knowledge and understanding as always very much appreciated 🙏

You could consider buying your own eye drops - just ensure whatever lotion, potion, drops or spray you choose that all are Preservative Free.

I used to use a very gunky grease in a little tube over night - couldn't see well with that one, but it was longer lasting and just used at night time made sense - especially if you don't want to see your dreams !!

In the day time I used drops several times over as needed - but just ensure everything is Preservative free.

Yes, it is very hard to know how you feel on a daily basis and the feeling of being totally worn down is overwhelming.

Take good care

Hi

I do have some eye drops from the eye hospital as I have drops for my glucoma and know I can’t use over the counter stuff so on my lady visit they gave me some preservative free ones to help with this some days okay others not. Some days if on computer all day for work not so good. 🙏

many Hashimoto’s members for have TED (thyroid eye disease) use these eye drops

Lots of different variations

Hycosan Extra - Preservative Free Eye Drops

I don't know about glaucoma but there are many OTC products which are Preservative Free and which I had to research for myself as the NHS prescribed me drops and ointment with preservatives and simply compounded my problems.

Obviously working on a screen isn't good or anyone especially ' us ' -

Guessing those filter screens aren't much help ?
