When did you take your last dose of Levo before the test? The recommended time gap is 24 hours, if you took your Levo before the test then you have a false high FT4. One wouldn't expect to see such a high FT4 with that TSH level.
Was this a private test?
What are the reference ranges for these results?
Did you take biotin or B Complex or any supplement containing biotin in the days before this test?
I am just waiting to redo my T3
Wasn't FT3 done from the same blood draw?
You can't do a stand alone FT3 test, it must be done at the same time and from the same blood draw as TSH and FT4.
Hi, thank you for your response. I took my thyroxine 24 hours before the test. On the morning of the test I didn’t take any. The test was private through Medichecks. The range was 12 - 22.
The reason the T3 failed was because they did not have enough blood to test it. I could only get enough to the first line on the tube and it should have gone up to the second line.
I don’t take any biotin or B supplements. I only take C , Zinc and Omega 3
I have palpitations, high anxiety and depression. Nausea in the morning. It’s a struggle to get through the day, I have no energy. That’s why I had my bloods checked
I am suspicious of your high FT4 with that TSH level. If it were me I'd do another test with a different company. Monitor My Health is an NHS lab at Exeter hospital and you can get the basic thyroid test which includes TSH, FT4 and FT3 for £26.10 with code here:
I was highly recommended to use Medichecks they are going to check my T3 and vitamin D when I get the kit through. I am going to a clinic to have blood taken because I don’t like doing the finger prick way. I tried to take blood from 3 different fingers, I did everything they recommended but it set my anxiety off and my fingers were bruised and stung after. Not doing that again. I will call them next week and ask them to recheck my T4 when they check my T3. I spent a lot of money so cannot afford to go elsewhere and cannot take the stress. Thank you for your advice, I appreciate it.
