Hi just had a Medicheck Thyroid Test and have had a urgent reply stating that I need to contact my Doctor today as my T4 Is very abnormal.

TSH: 0.135 mIU/L

Free T3: 4.8 pmol/L

Free T4: 26.7 pmol/L

They have not yet completed the results but state I should contact someone today. Why would T4 be high? what causes this

Many Thanks

What are you currently taking? I saw some reference to Teva levothyroxine, for example, in your posting history.

How long did you leave between last dose and doing blood draw?

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

is this how you did your test

How much levothyroxine are you currently taking

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

Free T3 (fT3) 4.8 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8)45.9%

So Ft3 not even 50% through range

Presumably Medichecks also testing vitamin levels too

Hi

Yes 24 hrs - fasting - Medichecks currently taking 162.5 Levothyroxine

just awtg full results to come through.

So results show very poor conversion of Ft4 to Ft3

See what vitamin levels are like

Improving vitamin levels to optimal can help improve conversion rates…..reducing Ft4 and improving Ft3
