Discuss this side effect with the pharmacist or your doctor and request a different brand of liquid thyroxine. You should yellow card the Zentiva so that your side effect is recorded:
I was on 6.5 liquid Zentiva daily i took it once in the morning. I was on it quite a while before the burning started i kept with it as i dreaded going back on tablets.
In the end i couldnt stand it any longer. My consultant got me to reduce my liquid dosage 6.5 one day 5.0 every other day because she said my tsh was too high at 7.0. I did this for three weeks then started went on 5.0 everyday
I have been taking T3 for about two months. 10mg a day split into 5mg twice a day.
Last blood test results showed that my tsh had gone down to 0.07.
Been back on tablets about 56 days and feel terrible. The brand is Aristo. I cant seem to tolerate any brand, ive tried many, must be the fillers. Got to say apart from the burning on liquid i did feel much better with regards my eyesight and hair, skin and no aches or pains. I did did put on alot of weight around my stomach.
I am going to have a blood test done tomorrow and see what the consultant decides to do.
Im going to get bloods done tomorrow at addensbrooke hospital who i am under. They test T3 levels, gp doesnt. My last blood test was six weeks ago. They said a letter was sent to me with results but i never received it. I will ask for it to be printed off tomorrow and post it here and when i get tomorrows results i'll post that too.
No they test T4 T3 and tsh all together. My test is at 11.15am i said to the nurse i thought it had to be done before 9am she replied no 11.15am will be fine
Yes! My GP was happy to give a me a trial of liquid levo last year. I felt better on it, but I had to stop after a couple of weeks due to the bad effect that it had on my chest, breathing and and consequently my anxiety. I did a bit of Googling and the preservative that pretty much all of the available (non compounded) oral solution use is known for causing this type of irritation in some people. So I'm back on the tablets.
