Liquid thyroxine

Hi ,

I've been changed onto liquid thyroxine by endo to see if it makes any difference to my never ending fatigue and hypo symptoms .

I've felt worse than ever the last two days since swapping , is this just coincidence or has anyone else experienced similar ?

I was hoping that if i noticed a difference it would be a positive one !

You probably have a residue of the tablet levo in your system yet. So give the liquid a little more time. If you don't feel any better he should prescribe some T3 to your levo. I don't think they realise that levothyroxine doesn't suit all of the people with hypo.

Thanks shaws, yes , I guess its too early to tell .

I have had a trial of t3 but wasn't able to tolerate it ( got terrible hyper symptoms)

I know I've got adrenal fatigue and maybe that was why , I'm also supplementing low ferretin levels and plan to try again.

In the meantime I was hoping the liquid thyroxine might be a better option !

When we are desperate to get well we are hopeful on any change of medication. I hope you find what suits.

I was tried on the liquid thyroxine and didn't do well on it because of the amount of sugar in it aggravated my thrush. I was eventually put on Martindales lactose and sugar free thyroxine which I alternate with Thyrogold ie 100 mcg thyroxine, and one 300 mg thyrogold daily

That's interesting, it seems seem very sweet and I'm not sure if long-term that's ideal. Its good to know there's a sugar free option .

Do you take thyroxine and thyrogold together or on alternate days ?

Thanks,

Amanda xx

I take them both together at night.

Glad to help

Hi Amanda

I struggle with levothyroxine too and tried the liquid levo but what I found was that not long after taking it that it gave me nausea. GP has now put me on Levothyroxine capsules which I am tolerating better. Sx

That's really strange because the last few mornings I've felt really sick . It's so frustrating ! What's the difference do you think with the capsules ? I just wonder why you are tolerating them better ?

Amanda

I am really not sure as no leaflet came with capsules. It could be something to do with fillers.

I did ask for Martindale's capsules as they have less fillers but my GP said she couldn't promise.

However, when I rushed in to pick up prescription pharmacist did mention that these capsules are expensive!

The minute the liquid levo hit my stomach I got that awful sick feeling. Sx

Thanks Silvers , I'm sure that's why I'm feeling sick then , it gradually wears off but definitely ties in with after ive taken my dose .

I too got told how expensive the liquid is and warned that if it doesn't work for me I'll need to go back on tablets as they're much cheaper !
