Can you advice me whats brands should be better..

I've been with Mercury brand and my pharmacy said they also do liquid

I was on 75mcg but recent TSH is 3.6 ( 0.30 - 4.20 ) been feel rough again and consider to raise a bit round 82mcg this week

I have zero experience of this new liquid form

Can you advice me on how to adjust the dose from tablets please

previous post here you were taking 100mcg

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

You’re now in need of dose increase

People on liquid levothyroxine often split the dose

Half in morning and half mid to late afternoon

Hi yes I was on 100mg it was too much then reduced 75mg too low, then taking 5 days 100mg 2 days 75mg.. My case is hard to get the correct doses..fluctuated all time just few weeks after doses changed it all coming back to be bad or worst.. suffering all symptoms badly !

Im sick of this thyroxine doses changing all time doesnt matter the doses Im still seriously unwell.. I don't know If this Thyroxine has been saving or killing me..😓

Having this Liquid trial for a while

Hope it will work somehow

Otherwise Im going to switch to Nature Thyroid...

I've seen people here taking thyroxines tablets at night so I've changed it also at night before sleeping.. for more convenient

my case is same bad doesnt matter taking it morning or night.. high or low doses.. sometimes it seem to be corrected dose Im ok just for a while then back to be bad..

Gluten free, Oat free, Dairy free, Soya free, white eggs free... avoid lots of favourite foods very healthy eating ...👉 Nothing help

Seen functional nutritionist.. on diet lose almost 10kg 👉 same bad or worst... very skinny 44kg

thats why 5 days 100 mg & 2 days 75mg was too high TSH 0.07

GP asked to lower doses to 75 test again after 6wks and now TSH 3.6 although same 44kg.. weird !!

Most of my lab test + Vitamin levels nhs and private has been good or Ok nothing bad.. they says most of my organ woriking fine..

I know Im a rare case.. I don't give up

Booked to see another private endo soon this Mar but want to have this liquid trial to see hows it goes

Can you advice on the spit dose pls

I want to up dose in tablets 👉 5 days 75mg + 2 days 100 around 82mg for 44kg should be alright.. So how to convert this strength to liquid pls advice, many Thanks !

Medic’s should not be dosing by TSH

Most important results are ALWAYS Ft4 followed by Ft3

And all 4 vitamins at optimal levels

Sadly for many, Nature Throid (you typed Nature Thyroid but I think that was a typo) is no longer available.

There are desiccated thyroid products but they are not readily available in the UK and the cost is high.

My medicines document lists all the formulations of levothyroxine oral solution (liquid) theoretically available in the UK.

Unfortunately, there are frequent, ongoing, supply issues across all makes. This ends up making it difficult to select a make or to stick to the same make.

The ingredients are nearly identical across all makes however we do see members posting quite regularly that they are fine with one, but not another.

There is effectively no association between tablet and liquid products. For example, some who cannot tolerate Teva tablets are fine on Teva liquid. And so on across the various makes.

In theory, liquids are better absorbed but the degree to which this is so does vary. If you have a real absorption issue, and find the liquid makes a difference, that could be very significant. But for most members it seems only to have a slight effect. For example, maybe needing only 87.5 instead of 100.

Inasmuch TSH can show adequacy of treatment, you definitely look to be under-dosed. Maybe don't even hint at the idea that liquid products might need a lower dose!

helvella's medicines documents (UK and Rest of the World) can be found here:

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines

helvella has created, and tries to maintain, documents containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world. There is now a specific world desiccated thyroid document.

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines - UK

The UK document contains up-to-date versions of the Summary Matrixes for levothyroxine tablets, oral solutions and also liothyronine available in the UK. Includes descriptions of tablet markings which allow identification. Latest updates include all declared ingredients for all UK products and links to Patient Information Leaflets, etc.

helvella - World Desiccated Thyroid

Contains details of all known desiccated thyroid products.

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines - RotW

Contains details of all levothyroxine, liothyronine and combination products - excluding desiccated thyroid products. Details available vary by country and manufacturer.

The link below takes you to a blog page which has direct links to the documents from Dropbox and QR codes to make it easy to access from phones. You will have to scroll down or up to find the link to the document you want.

I'm not entirely clear what you want!

ALL the liquids have almost identical ingredients. We really do not know why some people find one better for them than another.

I've attached a screenshot from my medicines document to illustrate that.

Hi. I take liquid levothyroxine. I use to take tablet form. Liquid I find is much much better than tablets. You can alter your dose by the smallest of margins. You don’t have to avoid foods. But being on the safe side I leave 30 mins away from food. I take it as a split dose. My dose is 68mcg a day. I pull up 34mcg in the syringe each time. Put the syringe I. Your mouth and dispense it into my mouth. Easy. I take my Liquid at noon then again at 4.30pm. My levels are always good from my blood tests. I take T3 also not sure if you do. The brand of liquid I’m on is Mercury Pharma 50mcg strength. I’ve ensured I get the same brand and strength each time by calling the medication manager at the gp surgery and getting them to stipulate on the prescription that it’s Mercury Pharma 50mcg every time. I’ve not had any issue obtaining this brand. I did have some problems obtaining liquid about 15 months ago. Apparently that was to do with Brexit supply shortages.

So call your gp medication manger and stick with Mercury Pharma I’d say.

Hope it works well for you.

Oh and it’s much more absorbent than tablets so you may well need to adjust very very slightly.

The pharmacist will put the quantity to take on the medication.

Hi I have been on liquid levothyroxine for 3 years now. I was prescribed it as my results were oscillating and I felt awful, tired, sore joints, losing hair etc as well as having terrible gastritis on all of the tablets. I am on Teva brand and feel much better and due to shortage of supply I have also had Zentiva over the last few months with no issue, my results remain the same and I feel so much better on the liquid.

I hope that you begin to feel better soon.

So happy for you to get on with that and feel so much better on the liquid

The thing with taking Levo is you need to be taking just the right amount of it AND to have all your vitamin levels at OPTIMAL to feel well.

Exactly what are your vitamin levels (with range numbers) for ferritin, folate, B12 & D3?

What are you supplementing with?

Blood test results can vary depending on a number of factors - time, food & whn you last took your dose of Levo.

Its essential to follow the blood test protocol to get consistent results.

Recommended blood test protocol: Test at 9am (or as close as possible), fasting, last levo dose 24hrs before the blood draw & no biotin containing supplements for 3-7 days (Biotin can interfere with thyroid blood results as it is used in the testing process).

Testing like this gives consistency in your results and will show stable blood levels of hormone and highest TSH which varies throughout the day. Taking Levo/T3 just prior to blood draw can show a falsely elevated result and your GP/Endo might change your dose incorrectly as a result.

You likely need a 25mcg dose increase.

How are you taking your Levo?

Always take Levo on an empty stomach an hour away from food or caffeine containing drinks & other meds. Many people find taking it at bedtime works well for them.
