Hi everyone. Having trouble getting the correct dosage and have a question. Does it matter how low t4 goes it t3 is optimal and you are on t3? I am on armour 1 1/2 grains and I can not seem to get my t4 above 12/13.
Please note my bloods were done 12 hours after meds, no biotin taken. All my vitamin levels need lifting I am working on all of these plus iron.
I feel hyper, sweating, racing heart, anxious etc. I think I need a decrease in meds…my t3 is well above range.

Ajva Some folks can feel well with low ft4 when on NDT or T4/T3 combo; others find they need ft4 at least half way through range or higher. It is very much an individual thing.
As a result some find that the fixed ratio of T4 and T3 in Armour or other NDTs doesn't quite suit them - that they need more of one thing and less of the other.
If you reduce your Armour dosage your FT4 will drop lower so my advice would be to lower and once the body has had time to adjust to the decrease to add in some levothyroxine.
Ideally I would be on separate t3 and t4 but I can not tolerate any form or brand of synthetic t4. I have tried them all including compounded, tirisont. So adding in a synthetic is not going to work for me unfortunately. It is very frustrating as I have worked out it is not the fillers or dyes but the actual man made thyroxine that I react to.
If only they could separate t3 and t4 in armour. That would solve my issues
Have you tried adding Levo since you have been medicating NDT?
I couldn't tolerate Levo alone and became extremely ill but just as you have experienced NDT offered me too higher FT3 levels and too low FT4. Adding 25mcg Levo helped a little and then adding anther 25mcg once I was confident has given good levels of both and I am tolerating Levo.
I am having allergic reactions to levo, that’s the issue. My throat swells and I can hardly breathe, hives, can’t get out of bed or move. Even on a 25mg compounded. However, I have never added in levo whilst on NDT so I would give it a try.
Your thyroid antibodies are very high, TGAb are 1380. Therefore, you might find if you try reducing these levels your body will become less reactive and you will suffer less intolerances and allergic reactions. Are you gluten free? Are you supplementing selenium? Raising Vit D levels will help, as will fish oils.
Also, you may have very high levels of histamine that any little thing can trigger, so following a low histamine diet could be useful.
Thank you Radd that is very helpful. I do have MCAS so high histamine. I am gluten and dairy free working towards AIP diet. Have been on this diet before but found it hard. I am taking Vit D.
I just wish I could be on synthetics and separate drugs
