I had to go for a B12 inj within my surgery this morning
The nurse unexpectedly said could have my bloods taken there and then for thyroid, folate ferritin and vitamin D3 .I was so thrilled not to have to go through the doctor I completely forgot that I wouldn’t be following the protocol of :blood draw
Not having my 75 mcg Levothyroxine for 24hours previously and I’d had a coffee to drink 4 hours previously.
I had my dose of Levothyroxine at 2am (early because I couldn’t sleep)
What do I do?
Will it be a bad result.
My last bloods I posted on this site showed I was possibly under medicated and my TSH level had increased and possibly my T3 wasn’t being absorbed.
I feel as if I’ve really messed up .

What time was the blood draw? That's the most important as far as the TSH is concerned. I doubt a coffee four hours beforehand would have much effect. Do you take T3? What were they testing to see if your T3 is being absorbed? There isn't a blood test for that.
Sorry Greygoose Itried to show a picture of my last results. The bloods were taken at 11.30 am and as I mentioned Is taken my Levothyroxine at 2am this morning not realising I would be having bloods drawn for thyroid… will the result’s be way out.
Well, the TSH will be almost at its lowest at 11.30, so probably not very helpful if you want an increase in dose. And, certainly won't show if you're absorbing at a cellular level or not. Probably won't affect the FT4, or by very, very little. And won't affect the FT3 at all. Depends what you wanted the bloods for.
Thanks Slow Dragon… as I originally wrote …. Will my lack of blood taking protocol ( bloods not taken until 11.30am and 75mcg of Levothyroxine taken 12hours previously
B12 might also interfere with getting an accurate result.
All is not lost though, even if they change your dose - you are supposed to be retested 6 weeks later and you can make sure you follow the right steps / timing then.
Testing is preferably done at about 9 or so in the morning, as tsh will gradually lower after that time, but an 11.30 test is obviously better than an afternoon one. There can be a spike in FT4 levels 2-4 hours after taking levo, but you were well away from that. All in all, your test results should be reasonably accurate, and that caffeine will have made no difference!
