Hi, has anyone used them, and if so, how was the experience? A doctor at our surgery has turned himself inside out explaining that I was never diagnosed as hypothyroid that my thyroid meds I have been on for 25+ years were for my M.E. , and so he refuses to continue to prescribe Armour. Yet in the same letter, says he will continue to prescribe T3 for the time being. I am a bit concerned that payment is by bank transfer. Any comments about using <pharmacy redacted> would be greatly appreciated.

If this pharmacy sells prescription drugs without a prescription, you should not mention it on the forum.

Ok. Thank you for explaining this.

It´s not easy to learn all the rules! But I do understand the logic behind it; that is, to protect those sites from being shut down.

Yes, I see it. We would not want Thyroid UK to be in trouble. The MHRA are against patients buying medicines online. The dear doctor told me to or to go privately if I wanted to continue with Armour.

Great advice! The trick here is to ask for suppliers by private message only. Or, in your case, since you know the namn of the supplier already, to contact one or several of the admins via PM to see if they have had feedback on said supplier (they often have!)

Thank you for the advice. I really don't have a clue, do I😄 Sorry I was being facetious about the doctor, he is suggesting anything other than me being prescribed Armour via the surgery, even to telling me has found out from my medical notes that I am hypothyroid so can't prescribe Armour, despite 25+ years of treatment but will still continue with T3! I really think this goes beyond me and my problems. It affects all of us who are denied effective treatment.

Definitely!

Hi, I discovered this document a couple of weeks ago, which probably explains why Doctors are refusing to prescribe NDT now.

Good grief, this is what we are up against.

I know, utterly depressing, isn't it? Talk about feeling supported by your health team!!

if levo became really expensive, i wonder if they would then find NDT the better medication to take.🤔

Yes! And I have seen a post that suggests the pressure to push Levo is nothing to do with efficacy.

I have edited out the pharmacy name as it is against the guidelines for the Thyroid UK forum to identify potential sources of prescription-only medicines which do not require a prescription.

Ok. Thank you for explaining this.

My then GP told me I wasn’t hypothyroid because my treatment started when I was fully symptomatic but my TSH was ‘only’ 4 ! So I stopped all meds(levo plus NDT from Thailand) and nearly ended up in hospital! They haven’t tried that one since! But it’s not stoped them refusing me NDT and I’m intolerant of T3. So I buy an Armour copy from Thailand which is way cheaper than the real thing and has kept me well for the last 20 years.

The reason your pharmacy is asking for a bank transfer is that PayPal will not deal with the Thai pharmacies, although not as far as I know because of any lost money.

PM me for details of my supplier, other members might offer too.

Thank you for your advice and explanation. Sorry this harmful system, or rather those working within it, have let you down, too. My previous GP (retired), would never have stood for patients being treated like this. I am worried about trying a medicine with lactose in as other meds containing it have cause bowel pain and bleeding, but although someone on here suggested taking the prep containing lactase with it. I really am so grateful to you all.

Do you have your thyroid results from before and during your Armour treatment ?

What are your results now?

Hi, I don't have results from before Armour and T3, those I do have consistently show v low TSH, as expected, and T4 and T3 fairly near the bottom of the range. I can't give numbers at the moment. I was diagnosed 25+ years ago by Dr Peatfield with central hypothyroidism, although as antibodies were picked up, he said there was also an autoimmune component.

Sadly, doctors able to understand test results have left the practice.

Just as a matter of interest have you tried looking up your NHS records on their website? You need your NHS number which will be on any hospital letter. It’s not obvious where to get onto the site and I came across it by accident but it carried more and slightly different/useful records of treatments/ visits to doctor etc. from the Patientaccess site which I’m on to request appointments and repeat prescriptions. Best wishes.

No I didn't know about this. Thank you so much, I will certainly do this!

If you have any problems I’ll see if I can help. Some surgeries have apparently not put patient records only yet or because they can’t be bothered / can’t get the staff!?

🤣🤣love it! Thanks for the offer of further help. I went on the NHS site and registered. Then I had a message from the surgery saying I could see my notes on line, but not been able to work out how to do so yet. It might be because my tablet is old, like me. I will have another go tomorrow, but if I still can't get it, I will come back to you. I really appreciate this. Thank youx

My iPad is a bit old and manages. It’s really frustrating when your supposed to update things to get a basic service. Good luck!
