Blood Results

I have been having hormone problems so I have had lots of private blood tests done (which are low or non-recordable, high cortisol and prolactin is 627) and have been referred to a gynaecologist. I had my Thyroid bloods done so that I was armed with blood results and they said my Thyroids was normal. Just wanted to check with people on this group. My results were:

TSH level 1.71mu/L

FT4 level 13.2 pmol/L

FT3 level 4.3 pmol/L

I was relieved they said they were normal but with my others being so low I wanted to check with people who understand Thyroid results.

Thanks in advance.

Please add ranges (figures in brackets) after Ft4 and Ft3

Always test thyroid levels early in morning, ideally before 9am

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested.

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum

Are you currently taking any vitamin supplements, if yes, what exactly

High prolactin can be linked to autoimmune thyroid disease

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/915...

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto’s or Ord’s thyroiditis) diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies

Autoimmune thyroid disease with goitre is Hashimoto’s

Autoimmune thyroid disease without goitre is Ord’s thyroiditis. Both are autoimmune and generally called Hashimoto’s.

In U.K. medics never call it Hashimoto’s, just autoimmune thyroid disease (and they usually ignore the autoimmune aspect)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

So your Ft4 and Ft3 are lower than you might need, especially Ft4 at only 12% through range

FT4: 13.2 pmol/l (Range 12 - 22) 12.00%

FT3: 4.3 pmol/l (Range 3.1 - 6.8) 32.43%

Suggest you get FULL thyroid and vitamin testing done including thyroid antibodies
