Hello I haven’t been on here for a while but just need some advice . I have been suffering with my muscles in the last year . It all started when my daughter had her second child and I started looking after her. The day I have both Grandchildren I get home and my muscles hurt and I feel tired and awful . If I do exercise the next day I am awake in the night with achy legs . I went to the doctors and explained and he did some blood test . He ruled out thyroid Tsh as my tsh level was very low . It showed that I have high ferritin levels and one other reading was high to do with muscle use . I have been to a specialist as my doctor thought I had we rheumatoid arthritis as my ankles were swollen as well but he said no it wasn’t that . I really don’t know what to do or were to go now . They are now saying it could be my age .
I am on 100 to 125 every other day thyroxine .

Age is not a disease. I always look to my 90year-old step-dad who had no arthritis and was swimming three days a week and bowling twice a week. At eighty he was down on his knees playing with the grand-children.
There is something wrong and you need to keep looking. I get tired with psoriatic arthritis. My body seems to swell with physical activity (work). I only work three days a week. I work one day and rest the next. My joints swell and I feel excessively tired. With rest the following day the swelling goes down and I feel more energized for the next alternate working day.
However your symptoms are different. Do you know why you have high iron? Further investigation is definitely warranted. Are your muscles cramping? or could it be referred pain from a bad back? That can sometimes feel like muscle pain when it is due to a pinched nerve further up.
