Do I need to reduce my NDT or extra T3?

I take NDT (A quarter of a tablet, which is half a grain/130 mg. The split is 7mg of T3 & 19mgs of T4) & extra T3. (25 mcg) In Feb I slightly increased the extra T3, as it was low in the normal range. (Before Feb I was on 19 mcg of T3 & my TSH was 0.1)

This is the lowest my T3 has ever been. I was was wondering what you thought about me lowering my medication? Perhaps lowering the NDT I take?

I self test & medicate, so I am after a bit of advice.

TSH-0.005 (range 0.27-4.20)

T4 Total-25.3 (range 66-181)

Free T4-3.3 (range 12-22)

Free T3-5.78 (range 3.1-6.8)

Vit D-74 (range 75-200)

Vit B12-788 (range 145-569)

Magnesium-1.06 (range 0.7-1.0)

Ferritin-164 (range 13-150)

CRP-12.31 (should be less than 5) I then got it tested with my GP & it was 2.1

I have upped my vit D, dosage & lowered my b12 & magnesium dosage. I don’t take anything for my ferritin so I must be naturally high at the moment.

Why would you think you need to reduce your NDT? Your FT4 is very, very low. That might be ok for you, as we all vary with how much T4 we need. So, how do you feel? Your FT3 doesn't look to bad, but might not be high enough for you. I certainly wouldn't suggest anybody reduce their dose with results like that. :)

I was thinking it because of the low free t4, but I feel good, so I am reluctant to reduce. I guess I’m looking for “permission” to carry on & just double checking that I wouldn’t be doing harm…..Thanks for taking time to answer.

Low FT4 is not a reason to reduce your dose, it's a reason to increase it. If you lower your dose, the FT4 will go even lower.

CRP is an inflammation marker and will be high when there is infection or inflammation.

Ferritin can also be raised when there is infection or inflammation.

I expect that at the time of the Medichecks test you were experiencing either infection or inflammation and when you had your GP test done you weren't, hence the much lower CRP. I expect at that time your Ferritin level, if tested, would have been lower as well. It's likely that your normal Ferritin level is not the high level you had with the Medichecks tesst.
