A breath of fresh air - positive

Hi everyone, you may know of my very recent horrible experience would what is now my “ex” GP. I have decided to switch my GP and I have successfully done so.

I have just had my first GP appointment over the phone, and I swear I cannot believe how good my experience was!!! She was very attentive, very interested in my health, and actually very knowledgeable!

She had no problems with private blood tests and was surprised to see I was positive to anti-TGab as only TPO was tested elsewhere.

She also asked me if I was taking Biotin in my previous test (as it was lower between two higher results) as it interferes etc etc.

She asked if I was referred to an Endo before for the wide array of Endocrine issues as she feels they are complicated with possibly 4 endocrine related conditions and all the symptoms and need specialist advice!

She said also a F2F appt needed to examine neck for lumps/swelling and a scan of thyroid may be needed as well.

Also prescribed further endocrine testing like ACTH, prolactin and others as “she needs the full picture! 😳😍😍😍

She said one of the tests is done in a clinical setting and consists of repeated blood tests to better diagnose issues. (Didn’t catch the name).

Very happily referred to St Bartholomews, which PaulineS recommended as one of the Centre of excellence for Pituitary!!

She also advised (without any input from myself!!)that I will benefit from Thyroxine, but for the short time being she would like for the Endo to investigate more as she’s worried that Levo may worsen my adrenal situation with the Low cortisol. Just to be on the safe side.

I am feeling so blessed and happy.

A doctor who listened and took their oath seriously in my opinion. The fight isn’t over, but wanted to shine a bright light as we often hear negative things here, so wanted to give credit where credit is due!

Literally crying of happiness on my bed right now! 😂😂😂

What an encouraging post, so pleased you've found what appears to be a good doctor. I hope everything goes well from now on. Keep posting to let us know.

I hope so too! 🤞🤞🤞It’s a new style of GP clinic where they mostly work online and have a few clinics and as long as you fall in their catchment area you can register. (Mostly London). there’s a lot of GPS to choose from I am so pleased!

I'm pleased you had a good conversation with her. The ACTH blood test will need to be done at the hospital as it needs to go on ice straight away so can't be done at the GP surgery. The test she mentioned sounds like the short synacthen test (SST) where you are injected with artificial ACTH to see how well the adrenal glands respond. The ACTH blood test shows if the issues is with the pituitary rather than adrenals.

That's brilliant to hear OudMood!

It must be such a releif to be taken seriously and have a doctor listen properly to your concerns.

Also to get the referrals that are needed for your health.

Best wishes.

Thanks. Yes it is.I was not expecting this!

And this whole thing came from her from the blood tests to the referrals!

I was shocked, I had to pinch myself! 😅

So pleased for you. How refreshing to find a GP that seems to be using their brain and common sense rather than acting like the health police.

A 'good cry' is warranted as it is also a huge relief off your shoulders to know you've been referred to an Endo..

Good luck.

100% a huge relief!Especially knowing the hospital is a good one for Pituitary conditions too, not just diabetes, gives me hope.

I now need to simply hold off without any treatment another 4-12 weeks (assuming waiting list is that short) until I see them.

🤞🤞🤞🤞

Anyone would think that that was funny OudMood. It isn't every day that we get good news is it?

I know.. honestly I was ready to move for my Diabetes Endo. Now I’m going to one that is basically 90 mins away each way.

And if it’s early morning or in afternoon the traffic can make it about 2.5 hours one way!!!

Each appointment the better part of the day is gone.

Even this GP is kinda far over 30mins by car.. (GP wise as they’re usually around the corner..)

So I really feel you ❤️
