I’ve been told my T4 and T3 thyroid results are within range but my THS level is very low what does that mean please.
Thyroid results . : I’ve been told my T4 and T... - Thyroid UK
Thyroid results .

Can you please post your results along with their reference ranges so that we can give you the best, most meaningful answer.
Also, please tell us what thyroid meds you are taking and when you took your last dose(s), eg
Last dose of Levo should be 24 hours before the test
Last dose of T3 or NDT should be 8-12 hours before the test, splitting the dose the day before and taking the last portion at the time stated.
I am not medically qualified but would suspect that your GP is another who has little knowledge about how to diagnose/treat a patient who has hypothyroidism. If your TSH is low I'd guess GP may think you are hyPERthyroid rather than hypOthyroid.
I've been told the oppositeMy THS is high but hormone levels normal. GP says he can't understand why. Not been given any details of levels of anything but I have the swelling at my neck, persistent sore throats, headaches and fatigue
Hi Suecoo66. It would be a good idea to write a new post of your own so that people can help you understand what your results mean ... things will get confused of people start answering you on this old post.
But basically , high TSH with 'normal ' fT4 is called 'subclinical hypothyroidism' .
The TSH is a signal from the pituitary gland (brain) to ask the thyroid to make more thyroid hormones (T4 & T3)
If there is a problem with the thyroid meaning it's not making enough T4/T3 for the body's needs ,then the TSH level goes up .
The TSH usually goes up over range long before the T4 gets so low it goes below range.
At this point it is called 'Subclinical' Hypothyroidism . (High TSH /in-range T4)
If it gets worse and the T4 goes below range it is then called Primary Hypothyroidism (High TSH/ Low T4)
Your GP will need to do further tests to see what the cause is and decide whether it needs treating with thyroid hormone replacement.
If your thyroid is swollen they may want to to do a scan to look at it.
