I've been experiencing some hypothyroid symptoms for the past year and decided to an initial medicheck test to see if I was being a paranoid. Only my t4 is below normal range but the TSH and T3 are within bottom range but still normal. Is this something worth investigating with my GP or buying a more advanced test for? I don't know much about this condition so would appreciate any advice on my results.

Was test done as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water
See GP
Request they test thyroid antibodies, vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Perhaps print out List of hypothyroid symptoms - tick all that apply

If GP is difficult about testing, then get FULL Thyroid and vitamin testing done privately
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested.
Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto’s or Ord’s thyroiditis)
About 90% of all primary hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto’s. Low vitamin levels are particularly common with Hashimoto’s. Gluten intolerance is often a hidden issue too
But you could be looking at central hypothyroidism, with TSH that low despite low Ft4
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

If TPO or TG thyroid antibodies are high this is usually due to Hashimoto’s (commonly known in UK as autoimmune thyroid disease).
