Hi everyone, just pre-empting my results as I think I know more than my GP (nightmare) about my thyroid, finally managed to get them to test my T3 & T4 which was a battle! I now have to make an appointment (there are none) to have my results discussed, as there is a problem (really?? surely not??) Anyway in anticipation that I will need T3 and they won't prescribe it... (probably, certainly) Can anyone be kind enough to inform me of where i can purchase online?
Many thanks suffering Suzy ;-(

Before considering adding T3 we need all four vitamins optimal and, if you have autoimmune thyroid disease, likely to need to trial strictly gluten free diet
How much levothyroxine are you currently taking
Do you always get same brand
Have you had thyroid antibodies tested
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
When were vitamin levels last tested
All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
I take 100 Levo, changes brand more often than not each time i have a new script. I take Vit d, multi vit , berberine , magnesium, probio 7 & Zinc. Had test first thing without levo, antibodies tested 2 years ago and Vitamins came back as expected VERY LOW Vit D and had to go on a super strength dose prescription since then i take Vit D every evening in spay form. All this was from was from old GP who was good! This one wont test my antibodies until my T3T4 come back. having read more about T3 if i need it my GP might just prescribe as i have seen other comments about this being prescribed in the UK, so fingers crossed if i need it I will get it, my last results were 2 years ago and it was evident then i was being over prescribed with levo, but nothing was done, its only when i have started to research and listen to Podcasts about thyroids that i have had to take things in my own hands and be pro-active about my health, I am totally exhausted all of the time to the point that i come home from work and sleep on the sofa at 8PM! Going to bed at 9pm along with weight gain and hair loss thinning but you know the drill... i just hope that i can get to a point where i feel well again... I'm also gluten free.
I didn't realise you could state a particular brand?? I'm not sure if any have an effect on me negative or otherwise, but thanks for that i'll keep my eye on it and report back once i get my results. Hopefully Monday??!!
My view is that, with UK pharmacies, it is possibly best to discuss it with them and, if they are not helpful, consider changing to a pharmacy which is willing to be helpful.
In general, you cannot demand one make but you can always ask. And the most helpful will both put that on your pharmacy record and actually achieve consistency in dispensing.
UK GP's are not able to initiate a prescription for T3 , they can only continue one that has been started by an NHS Endocrinologist, so if (miraculously) GP suspected a potential need for T3 ,he'd have to refer to Endo to decide of you could have it , Usual procedure (IF you find the right Endo !) is a 3 month trial under Endo, and then IF trial is deemed successful, prescribing is passed back to GP ... who will usually try and get out of it , as they currently have to pay a small fortune for it.
It's a very big 'If' about the right endo , most of them won't go there.
After lots of research, podcasts etc I heard about Nutri (I already use this brand for other supplements) they do a Nutri thyroid and Another one called Adrenal after 2 months of taking I feel better and for the first time in 5yrs I look like myself and weight dropping off wfich I never though I would say. I’m still taking Levo but hoping my new bloods will show I can come down from the 150mg I’m on. Look into it as it’s natural thyroid from a cow I believe. Good luck xx
I took Tru food for many years and I sometimes wonder if that eventually tipped me into hypothyroidism 😔 we thyroidies have to be sooo careful with supplements...
I’m just trying to buy another pot and can’t find it anywhere so you’re right, I am gutted as only thing that has worked for me. The Nutri Adrenal has I believe though so will continue with that. been a game changer Back to drawing board
