T3, buy online?
Hi dylansmum,
I am sorry that it is against the guidelines of Thyroiduk.to post details - as you will see on the right hand side column.
Nobody can know dosage.
The internet is full of people who have tried more than one make of T3 and found them to vary in impact as much as, maybe more than, levothyroxine. Classic example is in the USA where people might initially get Cytomel then get switched to a "generic" liothyronine for reasons of cost (or carelessness). Sometimes much better, sometimes much worse. Dose often needs to be adjusted.

Have you asked your GP if he/she would be willing to give you a trial of T3? Or asked for a referral to an endocrinologist if your GP is unwilling to prescribe? Much better to trial T3 with medical supervision so that blood levels can be monitored alongside symptoms. Usually, it's a case of reducing the T4 (levo) dose a little and adding in some T3, but requires trial and error to get things balanced.
Hi can I suggest before doing anything, you have a Free T3 test, pay through the site if GP will not do it. T3 is very powerful to take without medical supervision.
Best wishes,
Jackie
My husband is on T3 only - his GP is useless and doesnt understand how to manage this. So dont assume that because a patient actually gets T3 even if recommended through an endo - that they then get their T3 monitored - I monitor T3 for my husband based on his vital signs and symptoms. Then its a battle to get his does increased (if he needs it ) by his GP!
Are you taking anything for your thyroid now? If you are taking T4, it may be safer to see how you do on a T4/T3 combo like Armour or Erfa first? Then if more problems arise, you would have at least more of an argument for trying T3.
so how do you buy Armour? seems to be impossible to get to the bottom if you can't find a GP to prescribe it yet we can't ask how to get it!! ??????
If you're in the UK you can buy levothyroxine here without a prior script if you are approved by their easy online medical consultation goodrxtabs.com
hope this helps
Hi Adannes, how did you find this three year old thread? I've been on thyroid hormones for 20 years. I started with Synthroid (T4) and have residual problems still. After six years I got a prescription for Armour which contains T4,T3,T2,T1 plus calcitonin. It's closer to human thyroid but not the same ratio.exactly. I wasn't aware that my TSH should test at 1.0 so was underdosed for years. After learning more about the condition I attempted to raise my Armour and get the proper results but by that time my body was not going to except a higher dose. That's the danger of mistreatment. But after taking T3 and some adrenal support I could increase my dose.
Maybe you understand that T4 must then go through the stages to become the active T3 (unlike taking direct T3 which is already there). That is the advantage of taking T3. T4 stays in your system for a half life of two weeks but T3 or cytomel has a half life of less than a day but it's ready to go to receptors if there are no impediments like high cortisol. You have to stay on top of your treatment but I felt it was much easier on the system. I ordered mine from Mexico but they quit making it and I'm in the U.S. Europeans seem to have an easier time ordering whatever they want at reasonable prices.
Did I answer your question?
