Experience with NP thyroid as opposed to Armour

Hello

Quickly popping on here to seek advice on whether anybody on the forum has tried NP thyroid and /or Armour in the past? I used to be on Armour 1 1/4 grains, TSH always ended up a little suppressed as expected and T3 was generally higher in the range but T4 was slightly lower (below are my most recent test results). Anyways, as my symptoms oddly just wouldn’t disappear I ended up seeing a private London endocrinologist who sent me for pretty comprehensive testing. Long story short, he’s suggested I try an alternative form of NDT as armours formulation has changed and he’s reported many patients not feeling as well on it.. to be honest I wouldn’t be sure regardless because I’ve only been on armour for 6 months, unless the change occurred within that period which I expect not.

So I just wanted advice on whether anyone’s tried NP thyroid, and whether it’s resolved more symptoms for them/ made their blood panels better ect . Also, id greatly if someone could tell me a list of pharmacy’s in the UK that supply NP thyroid so I can figure out where to source it cheapest . Many thanks and I’d greatly appreciate anyone’s help!

Sorry forgot to add my results

TSH:0.05

T4: 14.5

T3:5.8

I appreciate this isn’t an entire panel of all my vitamins and minerals ect, those have been checked to and thankfully everything is fine.

Obviously need to add ranges

Do you normally split your dose NDT

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

If/when also on T3, or NDT make sure to take last third or quarter of daily dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test

Is this how you do your tests?

Hi nope, I don’t usually split the dosages only because I’m too worried that if I split it my evening one won’t be absorbed properly if I’ve had some food too close to when I’ve taken it, I just don’t want to be clumsy as silly as that sounds. Though I should really try it tbh.

And yep I do the test first thing in the morning and because I take my NDT around 9am every morning I usually do my test or have them booked for around that time the day of the test. And yes I then consumed my NDT asap after the blood test.

Hi slow dragon

I was also meaning to ask, my reverse T3 came back pretty high at 27 , the range is 10-24 ng/dl, and just wanted to understand why this might be?

The ratios in NDT don't work for me but I found NP Thyroid to be very effective and consistent in potency. They put few fillers in NP Thyroid so I never had any side effects related to sensitivities.

Hi there !

And oh okay, that sounds promising :)! I’m a little skeptical on trying it because I just don’t know how my body’s going to react, as the ratios of T4 and T3 are the same as they are in Armour my endos requested a 1 1/4 grain prescription, do you know which pharmacy sources this cheapest? Many thanks !

As you have Hashimoto’s are you on absolutely strictly gluten free diet

Vitamin results from month ago

Ferritin : 50ug/L (13-150)

Folate serum: 10.52ug/L (>3.89)

Vitamin B12 144pmol/L (>37.9)

Vitamin D 64.5 nmol/L (50-175)

Vitamin D and ferritin could be better

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Hi,

Yep I’ve been strictly gluten free for over a year now and milk free for about 4 months. This endo wants to put me on a low carb diet to try and re kick start the immune system as apparently many of his patients have had great success on it.

Supplement wise I’m taking Vitamin D, ferritin, adrenal cortex, magnesium, zinc, a nd a probiotic called biokult.

:) and yep I agree, I’m trying to work on increasing my iron but supplementation and diet.

Many thanks !

Hi, maybe you need to add a some levo inthe mix

So I have actually tried this, without my doctor knowing and I’ve noticed it definitely makes a difference. I added a 25 mcg dose with my normal armour dosage (had some left over from when my GP initially tried to put me on it but I had a bad reaction to it).

My only issue is, I don’t think any doctor would approve because adding T4 would probs suppress my TSH even more. And there’s zero way my NHS GP would do it because they’re probs totally against me being on NDT as it is .

Hm yes, there is a problem,...I do not know what to say, I don't live in the UK.

I add levo to ndt (Thai-Thyroid, no need Rx) so I get the ratio that I need(5:1).

I also have suppressed tsh but otherwise I don't feel well.
