Are you diagnosed as having Pernicious Anaemia or just low B12?
Are you also diagnosed as being hypothyroid?
Ft4 is low
Folate low too
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
Ask GP to test vitamin D, ferritin levels plus thyroid antibodies
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins
When i was having my injections i got given a leaflet about pernicious anaemia they think i have it as i do eat b12. They havnt tested me for it. Sent me of with the leaflet and look online. I requested my medical records a recently got them only to find my b12 was 175 in 2016 and they were advised to investigate and give me treatment but they never told me. Ive been suffering with serve pain just under my left rib for 5 years. Vomiting..yellow stools..blood..weakness...stiffness.! For most of my life ive suffered from blurry vision...palpitations...buzzing in ears. Also i have heavy periods since i was a teenager and still suffer with them on the implant. Theyve always said my thyroid is fine and everything else. It was my dermatologists that found my low b12 in November 2020...now i find out my gp knew about it and still said nothing. B12 injection have helped and i feel a lot better a lot of my symptoms are better...just in shock as im been treated for gallbladder and liver problems. Mri ct an ultrasound scans are all clear. I feel left in the dark.
No only b12 and that was a injection in December when i started the treatment of 6 injections in 2 weeks. My next one is march. This week i feel awful and numb and im a little shaky so dont know if that has anything to do with b12 being low. Will let you know when i get my results Thank you so much for your help x
