Hi everyone ,hope you all are fine? After a long time I am posting.Had right hemithyroidectomy on 26 November recovering very well but second week of surgery had tummy upset had pain underneath my right rib cage, pain kept on travelling around, this happened twice but was bearable but last Tuesday there was a sudden pain,it was very severe rushed to A&E after scanning and blood test was told I am having Gallbladder. No discussion with consultant, the dr asked for surgery straight away.I was also called for follow up after 2 weeks of thyroid surgery, but histology report wasn’t received by Dr I have attached my surgery report underneath but yesterday received a appointment letter form my thyroid surgeon for coming Wednesday.

After all this I have gone so anxious and worried what is it now,did anyone experience all this and what it could be about? Please help thanks.

If you've had two surgeries in quick succession - doesn't matter what they were - I would suggest that you ask you doctor for a full iron panel and tests of your B12 and folate levels. Or pay for them yourself if you can and if your doctor won't help. Once you have results you can post them in a new post and ask for feedback.

It is inevitable that people lose blood during surgery which could lead to iron deficiency or iron deficiency anaemia.

And if the anaesthetic gases used include nitrous oxide then you could end up severely B12 deficient. In order for your body to make use of B12 you also need good levels of folate.

I had two surgeries six weeks apart when I was a child (nothing to do with thyroid). After a year of frequent illness it was discovered that I had iron deficiency anaemia and it was blamed on those two surgeries. I sometimes wonder if I was B12 deficient as well. I suspect it was never tested.

You need FULL Thyroid and vitamin testing 6-8 weeks after thyroid surgery

Some people manage fine with half a thyroid....others need to start on levothyroxine

As humanbean sats....after 2 operations extremely important to test B12, iron and ferritin levels

As per previous post on where to get private testing done
