Has anyone here had thyroid surgery after finding a lump?
I had my right side removed a week ago and I'm nervous about the results. All my tests came back clear but professionals were still concerned it may be cancerous. I elected to have surgery just hoping that it would now all be over.
Has anyone else gone through this and what happened?

I had the left side of my thyroid removed due to a large nodule compressing my trachea. FNA was inconclusive but histopathology determined the tumour was malignant. It took 4 weeks to get my results but Christmas and New Year breaks will have delayed things.
Due to tumour size, type, and my age, it was recommended I underwent completion thyroidectomy 3 months later. The removed lobe was benign but I also had radioactive iodine ablatement to destroy any remnant cells dislodged during surgery. I'm in my 4th year of remission.

Thanks so much for the comments. I had an appointment yesterday and it came back suspicious so it's been sent to another hospital for further tests and I have to have an Mri and ct scan too.
