Going for blood tests, testing for the usual TSH, T4, T3, Rev T3.

B12, Ferritin, Vit D, Folate.

DIO2 finally being tested.

Any others suggested?

Symptoms include tiredness, lethargy, difficulty concentrating, sugar cravings and low mood.

Are these NHS or private tests?

Make sure it's FT4 and FT3 (Free T4 and Free T3) not Total T4 and Total T3 which are usually written as T4 and T3.

Reverse T3 is not worth the time and money. If it comes back high it can't tell you why it's high and there are many, many reasons s for high reverse T3 only one of which is to do with thyroid which is an excess of unconverted T4 and that will show with a high/over range FT4 with low FT3.

You have the four core nutrients listed so that's good.

If Ferritin comes back low then an iron panel and full blood count will show if there is iron deficiency or iron deficiency anaemia.

As you have sugar cravings possibly look at HbA1C, zinc and calcium.

Great, thanks for these. It’s being done privately so I have the luxury of choice!

Would appreciate any other ideas.

Also getting biotin checked as losing a lot of hair on head.

The only other thing that might be helpful at this stage is a 24 hour saliva adrenal test with Regenerus or Genova Diagnostics, both of these companies offer cortisol plus DHEA which is a much better test than cortisol alone.

If you currently take any supplements then leave the following off for 7 days before the test :

B Complex or Biotin

Iron tablets

Anything else just take after the test on the day.

Always advised here:

* blood draw should be done no later than 9am as TSH is highest early morning and lowers throughout the day

* nothing to eat or drink except water before the test as eating can lower TSH and coffee affects TSH

* last dose of Levo should be 24 hours before the test, last dose of T3 or NDT should be 8-12 hours before the test
