Progesterone cream/Elan

I had a conversation with somebody on here and I can't remember who. the person also used this cream. For a long time I used Serenity but have now swopped to Elan. 2 tubes arrived yesterday and I find the instructions a bit confusing.

I am past menopause and it says on the tube:-

Apply 25 - 26 consecutive days each month (rest 5 days)

Could somebody please tell me the instructions in simple words...I fear my brain has gone to sludge lately.

Thank you.

It may have been me, I use Elan.

You have 5 consecutive days off the cream per month. So in a 30 day month you use it for 25 days, in a 31 day month you use it for 26 days.

For ease, I start on the 1st day of the month and for the 30 day months I continue until (and including) the 25th. On the 31 day months I continue until (and including) the 26th. Then have 5 days off. Then start again on the 1st of the next month.

If I were you, as it's only a week away, I'd start on 1st November, continue until the 25th (use cream that day). Then have 26,27,28,29,30th off. Start using cream again on 1st December.

Thank you so much SeasideSusie I thought it was you......I shall use the same method. How do you find it? (I have always taken progesterone cream since the age of 42 and a complete hysterectomy so don't know what it is like not to take it) Thanks again.

To be honest, I'm not sure how I find it. I was recommended to start a lot of things by a practioner that I was consulting with at the time (lots of things going on then). Knowing no better, and she didn't tell me not to, I started them all at once so I can say which supplement did what.

I am a bit like you SeasideSusie , I take a lot of stuff together and don't know which supplement/cream is doing the best. It's a case of fingers crossed and as long as it doesn't do harm.

I am going to add zinc to my repertoire of supplements for the winter and was wondering if it is one of those vitamins that doesn't bother others when taken close to. If that makes sense?

I don't know about zinc, not used it so not had reason to look into it.

I bought zinc for the winter for extra protection against viruses/colds/flu....I probably have got enough vitamins and supplements with my arsenal of protection to make me last out till I am 150. Although please God I don't live that long.

I take mine TIL day 25 no matter how long the month. It balances out over time. I doubt it's that critical anyway.

Hi. I have been using the Serenity cream for a while. Is Elan a better cream? x

I am not an expert on Progesterone cream but I understand, that Elan is better, but please don't ask me why.

Hello I’m really interested in trying this cream. Can you get this in the UK? I had a quick look online and it came up as being from the US. Just want to make sure I go through the correct website. I had a total hysterectomy 7 years ago (aged 45) and I’m still suffering all sorts of menopausal symptoms and can not tolerate prescribed HRT. Willing to try anything at the moment x

Yes the U.S.A. Good luck, I could not tolerate HRT either.

Ok great thanks for that. Good to know you can use this even though you couldn’t tolerate HRT - gives me a bit of hope, fingers crossed.

I had a terrible time on HRT, and have used these creams now for 26 years and I am still here!! I hope you get on ok too.

I could not tolerate Progesterone. I could not sleep. Does anybody else have that problem? I was prescribed to regulate my menstrual cycle. Why are you ladies on it? (I also have hyperthyroidism which is under control.)

I’m really intrigued reading this post, I had a total hysterectomy in 2000, since then I have been on oestrogen hrt since the, although I take a much reduced dose now. My gynaecologist wanted me to take it to protect my bones among other things. I’m 66 now and still have sleepless nights but that could be something else that’s causing it now, including my lack of thyroid. I would be interested to know what benefits you get from the cream.
