Help with Progesterone Cream

Carnitarian profile image
20 Replies

Does anyone have any experience of sourcing and using Progesterone Cream in the UK for unwanted weight gain, fatigue, low sex drive, migraines and disrupted sleep?

Are all creams created equal? Any advice on dosing? How long before symptoms alleviate?

All help most welcome .

Many thanks in advance,

Cat

I used to buy it online many years ago, but none were strong enough to do much good. Serenity was the best of the bunch for me.

Great, thanks... I'll look into it. I've been told a 5% cream is what's best but they only show the dose in mg :-/

You can go on the internet and ask it to convert from one to the other to help you

Of course! Thank you... sometimes you need to hear the obvious stated to actually do it huh?!? :-$

Hi there I even have Lupus and had to have a hysterectomy at 33 years of age due to fibroids. My problem all those years ago was low progesterone - if only I had known. When I was on the pill I was the healthiest I have even been and I was a size 10 - came off it after the hysterectomy and took oestrogen only HRT and then my problems started.

OESTROGEN DOMINANCE (low Progesterone in other words) SYMPTOMS

The symptoms and conditions associated with estrogen dominance are:

• Acceleration of the aging process

• Allergies, including asthma, hives, rashes, sinus congestion

• Autoimmune disorders such as lupus erythematosis and thyroiditis, and possibly Sjoegren's disease

• Breast cancer

• Breast tenderness

• Cervical dysplasia

• Cold hands and feet as a symptom of thyroid dysfunction

• Copper excess

• Decreased sex drive

• Depression with anxiety or agitation

• Dry eyes

• Early onset of menstruation

• Endometrial (uterine) cancer

• Fat gain, especially around the abdomen, hips and thighs

• Fatigue

• Fibrocystic breasts

• Foggy thinking

• Gallbladder disease

• Hair Loss

• Headaches

• Hypoglycemia

• Increased blood clotting (increasing risk of strokes)

• Infertility

• Irregular menstrual periods

• Irritability

• Insomnia

• Magnesium deficiency

• Memory loss

• Mood swings

• Osteoporosis

• Polycystic ovaries

• Premenopausal bone loss

• PMS

• Prostate cancer (men only)

• Sluggish metabolism

• Thyroid dysfunction mimicking hypothyroidism

• Uterine cancer

• Uterine fibroids

• Water retention, bloating - zinc deficiency and insulin resistance

Do you know that it is a lack of progesterone or hormone imbalance which is causing the weight gain and fatigue?

I don't, I'm just experimenting. I've been listening to Dr Michael Platt most recently...

Have you had your female/male hormones tested? Signs of higher Testosterone balance. Care that higher creams don't affect your partner. Fatigue and weight gain are actually listed as side effects of the creams. Have you had GP help, many surgeries now have a doctor for 'women's troubles'. I remember that time as pretty miserable and HRT made it worse.

No, I'm mostly staying away from Dr's as going to them has actually caused the problems I'm experiencing today. Also, the info I'm getting online is that hormones are so individual that testing is pretty much meaningless and better to experiment and go by how you actually feel. Granted it's made more difficult by the fact that you experience many of the same symptoms with too much as with too little of any one hormone.

Bit of a quagmire, but I'm wading in!

I use Serenity occasionally when I feel PMS like symptoms and it helps well. However, from my experience it did nothing to my weight, no help with fatigue etc.

We are all different though

IMO, fatigue originates on cellular level, and I take Q10 as according to some researches it can support mitochondria.

Also, all those symptoms you have indicate raised level of inflammation - so, addressing the problem would help to reduce or eliminate the symptoms.

Thanks for you input :-) I'm totally with you on the inflammation front and the carnivore diet has largely sorted that out for me very swiftly (ie. no more migraines).

The fatigue is still confuddling me however. I spent 9 months on the Sarah Myhill protocol for CFS which included Q10 but to no avail. With my diet I'm now focussing on fatty cuts of lamb and beef as they are higher in stearic acid which, in the lab, is shown to fuse and ramp up mitochondrial function.

Fingers crossed!

It’s trials and errors path...

My personal view if something works for you, you will feel it within a day.

I lately started to take Fulvic Acid supplement (it also contains iodine and some other trace minerals) and it seems to me that I am more energetic especially in the morning. Have a look at it...

I tried Prog cream as I read all the symptoms of low prog and I wasn't just low but it was non existent but there again I am 70 and was told that was normal - it isn't normal actually because progesterone is one of the sex hormones needed by the adrenal glands. I tried taking it but it made my breasts swell up and that worried me - if you look at Carol Vorderman she has been to see a consultant I know of who has put her on Prog cream and is over the moon it has made her boobs bigger - not right though - I didn't like it. Progesterone is the hormone that helps thyroid hormone get to the cells. Do you know the symptoms? If not I can send you a list. I had all of them on the list practically but it just didn't work - I was so disappointed. I now take DHEA and Pregnenalone which also promotes progesterone but you have to be careful - DHEA depletes cortisol and Preg promotes it - as I found to my detriment - I now know why when I was prescribed both the reason for the two to be taken together.

Many thanks, that's really helpful! I'd love your list of symptoms as the ones I'm finding are all a little different.

I think I'm just going to have to try it and see what happens... and look into DHEA now too.... maybe after my cortisol saliva test comes back.
