Can anyone recommend an endocrinologist that would help me sort out my T3 levels? (I think they may be too low). I’m just suffering my 5th miscarriage in as many years, having never managed a successful pregnancy. All fail by 6 weeks and I’ve had full intensive miscarriage testing and it concluded nothing is wrong so I’m trying to find somewhere to blame - I’m sure my thyroid.
I’ve been on levo for a long time, maybe 15 years, and over recent years my conversion has got more and more poor, on 175 levo with low tsh and high T4, but lower range T3.
Most recent results from August are:
TSH: 0.26 (0.27-4.2)
T4: 19.7 (12-22)
T3: 4.21 (3.1-6.8)
I’m nervous to think i just need to increase my levo to raise my T3 - I had a really scary episode recently where my resting heart rate stayed at 120 for 25 mins (it’s normally 60 and I’m fit and active) and I could hardly breathe. I’m always tired and struggle to get going in the morning, so don’t think my thyroid levels are great.
Testing for all the supplements seems pointless as I’m on a concoction for pregnancy and miscarriage which includes various B complexes, vitamin D, high dose folic acid etc.
I just feel like I need a miscarriage-sympathetic endocrinologist who knows enough to help me rule out whether my thyroid is playing a part in all these miscarriages.
Thank you xx

Have you got recent tests of nutrient testing i.e. levels of vitamin B12, folate, ferritin, iron, vitamin D? If your nutrient levels are low they will reduce your conversion from T4 to T3.
See this thread for an example of what better nutrient levels can do :
When you get tests done do you stop taking any supplement with Biotin in it? Biotin can affect the accuracy of many different kinds of tests - not just thyroid and nutrients.
1) What kind of diet do you eat? Are you restricting your calories or any other part of your diet? Are you eating a low fat diet or a low carb diet? Do you have gut problems? Do you eat gluten?
2) Could you give us a list of the supplements and prescribed meds you take, preferably with dose info too.

I can empathise with you on the miscarriages. I had three miscarriages myself and ended up childless. But this was in the early 90s - information to help myself was very hard to come by.
Yes I am strictly gluten free, I have been for about 4 years and initially it helped reduce my antibodies which are now in the middle of the range rather than 3x the max range x
Am I likely to find an endo who will do the T3 with me rather than me having to self medicate? It seems too risky to do it myself alongside trying to start a family x
