Test Results Advice Please

A friend who is computer challenged has asked me to ask for opinions on her latest blood results. I am thinking that she needs an increase in hormone replacement, but she says she is feeling fine on Amour 30 mg. What is your opinion? Am I right that she needs an increase? Thank you in advance.

TSH 2.71 - (0.40 - 4.50)

FT4 1.0 - (0.8 - 1.8)

FT3 2.4 - (2.3 - 4.2)

I agree ... TSH is too high for someone on thyroid meds; free T4 is a feeble 20% through range and free T3 is on the floor :(

Has she tested key nutrients?

Thank you for that confirmation. She will be having the nurtient tests in the next few weeks. I gave her the usual list.

Yes, those results do suggest a dose increase; however, if your friend feels fine then why rock the boat. We're all individual as to what levels make us feel well. She'll soon know when she doesn't feel fine and will be asking for your advice again :)

She "could" increase a little, but as SeasideSusie stated, if she feels well, that is what counts most.

A point to remember is that when on Armour, which is an NDT, her T4 will be lower as she is getting T3 from the Armour. T3 is the more important thing to watch on NDT therapy.

Of course it akso depends on what she considers “normal”!

Good point! She drinks coffee once a day in the morning before or after a walk, which may hide some tiredness in the morning. She says she gets tired around 3:00 pm, and to me that may be a symptom. But overall she says she feels fine. She is going to take the results I posted to a new endo in the next few weeks and ask him his opinion. I am curious what he will say. Two other doctors asked her how she feels, and when she says she feels good, they don't suggest a change.

I know she will appreciated the comments on this forum. Thanks!!
