Years ago Dr Durrant-Peatfield diagnosed me as hypothyroid - without the use of blood tests - and started treatment on Armour. Then I emigrated and tried - without success - to find a doctor willing to continue my treatment. Over the years my ill health has become almost normal, if life limiting. Finally i had to quit my job as I was too ill to continue and I am now having a last try at resolving my health issues. However, my blood test results are 'within normal range'.
Blood test results as follows:
TSH 2.41 (0,34-5.6 miu/L)
FT4 10.9 (7.5-21.1 pmol/L)
FT3 5.5 (range unknown)
TPO >10 (less than 10)
Tg not tested
Vit D 37 (60-150 nmol/L)
B12 344 (110-914 ng/L)
Folate 2.6 (3.1-19.9 ng/L)
Ferritin 39 (10-180 ng/L)
ANA Negative
Also, low basal temperature, slow Achilles reflex + 32 classic symptoms.
GP prescribed Vit D at high dosage for 7 weeks, which I have just finished with no improvement, and likewise Folate. Another blood test for these in a couple of weeks. I now have a referral to Mr Pope, endo on Thyroid UK list.
My question: can I have hypothyroidism in spite of these 'within normal' blood test results, and if so, how can I get treatment? Your honest, straightforward and (such well informed) advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
