Hi last year I went to doctors because I have a slightly swollen neck on the bottom right side. My bloods come back fine I had an ultrascan they said I had a small nodule I went back and had another scan few months later and it’s still the same. I keep getting Sharp shooting pairs down the right side of my neck and it feels really tight like I have to lift my right shoulder Up sometimes so it doesn’t feel uncomfortable It’s so hard to explain it’s not causing bad pain the tightness goes from the top of my neck to my shoulder And I feel like I have a massive lump in my throAt As anyone else had this?

Thyroid nodules
Hi Daisybrazil123, I was in your exact position in 2018, kept being told it was nothing to worry about, bloods fine and kept under ENT at hospital to have annual ultrasound to check it’s not getting bigger. I still continued to feel unwell but thought I’ve just got to get on with it. Until February 2020 and I just couldn’t cope with the exhaustion and pain any longer, I insisted on another blood test with the doctor, they reluctantly agreed. TSH 90 (.5-5.0)T4 3(12-22) TPO 680 I was diagnosed with autoimmune thyroiditis and primary hypothyroidism and told I’ll have to take medication for life, always trust your gut when you think something isn’t right. I’ve read up loads and got tons of help from here. Change of diet, get supplements balanced and be your own advocate. I haven’t had much help from the doctor, but I feel I’m making a recovery with all the amazing help on here. You’ll get what you need from this forum, it’s amazing. Keep insisting to your doctor if you still feel unwell 😊
Thank you for replying no I’m not gunna leave it this time Iv had enough now been going on since 2018 aswell when I was pregnant but took them a year to even see to me doctors are so usless. Some days it’s fine I don’t have any problems then other days when I can feel it I feel tired drained I have no energy to really talk aswell is this how you are I’m just so worried
Keep insisting on more blood tests. Stay strong and get support on here: you’re not alone😊
Don’t leave it my love, I ignored my lump and it was thyroid cancer just had the whole thing removed two days ago. Go get yourself checked do not give up with it, my TSH was normal according to my GP it was only the neck node that caused them to urgent refer me and so glad they did! I hope you feel better soon and get some answers but don’t rest until you’re satisfied with the results x
Hi, it would be worth making sure that your oestrogen and progesterone are balanced and not adding to your problem. Although oestrogen imbalance/dominance isn't the only reason for nodules, it is one reason, and you mention pregnancy although I'm not sure if that is when this started. My nodule was, I believe, oestrogen stimulated as I know now that I have a problem with metabolism, but at the time I was just told that it needed to be removed. Having had the operation, my thyroid function has been off ever since. I would check for Hashi's etc obviously, but maybe look at diet and hormones. If you need surgery, go ahead, but if no-one is suggesting it, it isn't something I would push for in the first instance. Best wishes.
What were the exact words they said about the nodule?
For example my last ultrasound says this.
Benign enlargement of the thyroid noted bilaterally with months hypoechoic nodules. There is a background of hypoechoic parechhyma with increased vascularity in the neck.
I can’t actually remember all I can remeber what he was saying was there is no need to worry it looks fine but I just can’t cope with these symptoms
Exactly what thyroid test results have you got?
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
Ask GP to test vitamin levels and thyroid antibodies if not tested yet
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Hi Daisybrazil123, I was in your exact position . Since August last year and until today without treatment by my GP. Searching I found this forum and I’m trying to learn with all and to take care of myself.
Have you found any tips what helps
Sorry, Daisybrazyl123, I just saw your message now. I didn't find a solution with the doctor, but the group is helping me a lot. The doctors here said I don't need treatment, but I feel really bad. I know that this pandemic is a problem for any treatment, but I am starting to consider returning to my doctor in Brazil because here it is very difficult. Hope you found any help.
