Updated blood tests

I decided to get private bloods done as my FT3 came back twice as being slightly over range, it looks like theyre normalising a bit now in comparison but still several symptoms present.

I have been on vitamin supplements for two/three months now so some of the digestive issues have calmed, but I still cant get past the heat intolerance, excessive sweating, anxiety and heart palpitations.

Currently taking;

Vit d 3000iu, vit c 1000mg, centrum women multivitamin.

Also I am currently not diagnosed nor am I taking any medication.

The bloods were;

Tsh - 1.66 (0.2-4.2)

Ft3 - 5.18 (3.1-6.8)

Ft4 - 17.1 (12-20)

Tgab - 13 (<100)

Tpoab - <9 (<34)

TSH, Tpoab and Ft3 have lowered slightly, Ft4 has increased slightly.

My other Tpoab test was <15 but this shows slightly different.

In fairness, I forgot I needed to do this test before 9am so this was a 11.30am read. I cant afford another private yet.

Just could do with understanding what this may mean.

centrum women multivitamin.

Sorry, but I have to say this. Waste of time and money.

Multivitamins aren't recommended. They tend to contain the least absorbable forms of ingredients, often in wrong amounts to be of help, and they tend to contain things we should be tested for first before supplementing. Your particular multivitamin contains the following which you should test for first:

Calcium

Iodine

Iron

Iodine is anti-thyroid, iodine solution used to be used to treat hypERthyroidism before the current radioactive iodine treatment. It can make hypothyroidism worse and is definitely not recommended when Hashi's is present.

Iron affects absorption of everything else and needs to be taken 2 hours away from other supplements.

B12 at 3mcg is beyond minimal and wont do anything if your level is low. It's also Cyanocobalamin and Methylcobalamin is the recommended form.

Folic acid would be better as the methylfolate form.

Magnesium is the oxide form which is poorly absorbed and generally used for constipation.

It doesn't say which form of Vit K but it will be K1 as it's cheap and it's also the blood clotting form.

Selenium is the selenate form which is not recommended, the best forms are selenium l-selenomethionine and yeast-bound selenium.

Zinc is the oxide form, normally used in nappy rash cream.

As you're taking Vit D, are you also taking it's important cofactors - magnesium and Vit K2-MK7?

Hey seasidesusie

Thank you for the above, yes im taking vitk2-mk7 too.

Thats really useful to know. My main deficiencies are B12 and D.

I do take B vitamins too but off hand cant recall the units, this was advised by the nurse.

Just at a lose end a little with the anxiety, heat intolerance, nervousness etc.

Laura
