I had a total Thyroidectomy in 2008 which has been the worst decision of my life. Previously had no serious health problems but anxiety and thyroid goiter. Now have NASH.
I see an endocrinologist for my thyroid only. In Feb, Started having stomach issues (first time ever) and malabsorption of Synthroid 100 mcgs. I researched and requested a change to Tirosint or Tirosint-Sol. Placed on Tirosint-Sol 100 mcgs and did much better. TSH dropped to .02 and Endo requested that I skip a dosage once a week. She calculated the dosage to be .85 mcgs by skipping once a week. My TSH then went to 2.25 and I felt awful but she feels this level is find although we had discussed the optimum level being 1.0.
I went for a second opinion and this Endo gave me a prescription for Tirosint gel caps. She was less concerned about levels and had never heard of Tirosint. I won’t go back to her. Due to see my regular Endo next month.
Here are my 13 Jul results. I only skipped one dosage in the six weeks and my last dosage before test was a full 24 hrs. I’m afraid she will insist that I continuing skipping.
Test NameResultRef Range

I contacted 7 endocrinologists none of them knew about Tirosint gelcaps or Tirosint-Sol. By the time I found one she didn't know how to prescribe it properly. Did a dose for dose change from Synthroid to 75 mcg. I lost more than 10. pounds. Developed tremors and spasms and very bad rashes. The gelatin and Glycerol are high histamine and Mast Cell activation/ liberating. Now back to Synthroid but struggling to get rid of the side effects of Tirosint.
Hope you are having less problems with it as now I have to follow a low histamine and oxalates diet. Gluten free as well.
so you are saying Tirosint worsen your symptoms? What were your symptoms that you required you to go to a histamine diet. With the Tirosint Sol I had symptoms of burning feet. Before Tirosint I had episodes of allergic rhinitis which are slowly beginning to dissipate but I’m cleaning up my diet even more.
Severe palpitations, rashes, my whole body felt like being on fire. Red puffy eyelids, pressure behind my one eye, extreme weight loss, spasms, tremors, weepyness, frequent bowel movements, bad body aches. I should have started on 25 mcg not 75 according to the manufacturer IBSA
First Gel caps as it's pork gelatin reaction to the pork and it triggered histamine. Then went to Tirosint-Sol. It has Glycerol and it's a Histamine liberator. Also too fast into the system as both are in liquid form
My side effects became worse and had no other option but to get back to Synthroid which also is not perfect due to. lactose, corn and acacia. I don't tolerate NDT as Tirosint messed my adrenals up. The T3 ratio to T4 is too high for me and contains pork gelatin which is bad for histamine
